Anyone interested in reproduction Wico 4 inch (Robotron size) joystick shafts?

Got the balls from armi0024 a couple days ago and they look great! I will be cutting the shafts and pressing the balls this week. Hopefully I will have these ready by the end of next week (beginning of May). More updates as progress continues. I have not decided on a final price yet, but I will soon. Thanks for all the interest and thanks to armi0024 for getting the ball tops made.

Who made the balltops, and what does the shaft look like without the balltop pressed onto it? Does it just have a couple of pinch crimps in the steel like a typical screwdriver shank has to hold its pressed-on handle in place?

I believe that armi0024 was also making balls with female threads in them to swap these balls in for other balls.

What's the status on that product? I'll buy 4, and maybe a spare or two, in a heartbeat when those are ready!

I'd cut one open but I want the pair I have

Did they mold the ball ad glue it on the shaft? Or is the
ball moulded directly on the shaft.

Below is a picture of how the factory made the ends (the first picture). The ends are knurled and then I think were pressed on the balls or else the balls were molded around the shafts, not sure. It does not look like any adhesive was used, but the staying power of the ball tops were from the knurling and I am guessing the contraction of the heated ball as it cooled when pressed on. I thought about making these reproduction shafts this way but I chose a different way. The balls came to me with a threaded hole (no metal insert with threads). I ended up threading the ends of the reproduction shafts, applying some adhesive and then put each ball top on by hand. I made an initial one like this, chucked it in a vise and tried to twist the top off and could not. Maybe there are purists out there that will not buy these because they are not "pressed" on, but I think these turned out great and am very proud to offer them.
