Anyone interested in reproduction Wico 4 inch (Robotron size) joystick shafts?

I'd like a pair. Too bad you can't figure out a way to machine a notch at a couple heights on the stick. Then someone can come up with a spring loaded bearing to allow the stick to be pushed lower for Defender games. THAT would be awesome!

Anyway, I like the screw on tops just fine to keep the price down. Hit them with a little nail polish and they would never come off!

I would love a set that is as close to factory as possible!

Fortunate timing that I came across this thread.

I was just talking with armi0024 at BYOAC regarding this topic.

I have 4 sticks that have male M6x1.0 threads on them, & the red balls are about 1.4" diameter.

I'm eager to swap them to proper (IMO) 1.5" diameter balls to match my NOS 4" Robotron Wico sticks.

So, I'm in the hunt for 4 balls only--I've got the shafts. Whoever all gets going with this project, sign me up for 4 balls, no shafts please.

Thanks!

Does anyone know how trhe originals were made?
I'd cut one open but I want the pair I have:)

Did they mold the ball ad glue it on the shaft? Or is the
ball moulded directly on the shaft.

Whatever happened to the Wico corporation? I assume someone
bought them up.

Just a little update:

This does look like it will happen. I am working with KLOVer armi0024 (Paradise Arcade Shop) on getting the correct ball tops. We are going to try and offer both a screw on version as well as a pressed on version. Having a screw on version will allow the use of different colors and possibly illuminated tops. A price has not been finalized yet. I want to make sure that the ball tops are a good match before we begin to offer them up for sale. I will update this post as this project moves along.

Very cool!

I would suggest you use '303 free machining stainless' for the shafts. Anything other than stainless steel shafts would be a mistake.

These shafts are made out of Stainless Steel...

Yep, the first ones I did are stainless and the ones to be built will also be stainless. Thought about aluminum also.

A little update. I just sent off an original 4" wico shaft to klover armi0024 (Bryan at Paradise Arcade Shop). Hopefully soon we will have some ball tops of the correct size and color to move forward on this project. My hats off to Bryan for TONS of leg work on moving this project along.

I will update as Bryan and I move forward on this.

A quick update: klover armi0024 (Bryan at Paradise Arcade Shop) is waiting to hear back from some vendors on the ball tops. Nothing yet. I will post again when I hear more.
