i'm thinking about doing (well, having someone else print up) a run of repro Galaga 88 side art. no prices yet and i don't know what the price difference between screened and inkjet would be (probably significant if there isn't a lot poeple jumping in,) but i figured i'd get a feel for interest. having kept an eye out for NOS G88 art i know it's in fairly short supply.

bump. bueller? bueller?

if nobody's interested i'll see about having a single set run off on an inkjet just for me. i'm certainly not going to have a bunch printed up if nobody else wants one.

I am very interested but I'd like an entire set and I'd prefer screened. I know that Phoenix is supposed to start making CPOs for Galaga 88 in the next month so that's covered. I guess only the marquee is left. Any interest in the marquee as well?

i don't need the marquee or CPO (my cab has both in excellent condition.) if Darin is doing CPO's is he going to do side art as well? i have no problem with waiting for someone else to do a nice screen print since i'm probably not going to throw down the kind of money that it would take for screen vs. inkjet... that's too much of an investment in sitting on unsold stock for me.

No plans for anything other than the CPO is what I was told. While I'd prefer something like a screen for the side art, I'd take a close enough as well. :) I have a marquee but it is cut down a bit.

I'd LIKE to buy some.. But probably will not happen. I don't even have a Galaga 88 cabinet yet.. :(

...

Id buy a set for sure. I know that Francis Mariani is reproducing Galaga 88 overlays (silk screened).

I am almost done with the side art files. It has been taking me forever and a day though. The fake halftone is taking me a while. I usually make the file both ways so it can either be silkscreened or printed on an inkjet and look correct.

do you have a printer yet? i had sent Rich an e-mail but otherwise put it on the back burner. i'd rather someone else take this on and i'll be happy to buy a set when it's done.

Nope. I was just doing it to do it. There was a guy on BYOAC who needed the CPO, Side art and Marquee years ago. I think he found other means for all of it. I back burner'd it for a while, lost the file for a while, rescued the file from the USB stick and have since been working on it on and off.

I don't mind doing the work in trade for a couple finished pieces or whatever agreement I come to with a person printing. I will not make anything else I do public anymore. Not that I am some uber tracing dude, but I think my later stuff is pretty decent. I did a few early pieces for a personal build I was doing and made the files public...nothing but bashing as it wasnt correct, or this section was 3mm off or whatever. It put a sour taste in my mouth but I managed to get over it and create over 50 pieces in the current library.

I bet some of you have my work on one of your games :)

It would seem that there are a LOT more boards floating around than complete Galaga '88 machines. Because of this, and since those system cabinets were rather PLAIN looking (as was the original side art, if you want to call it that) why not make a NEW custom Galaga '88 side art in the style/shape/size of the original Galaga art??? I'm sure that I'm not the only person running a Galaga '88 board set in an original Galaga cabinet, and since "new" Galaga cabinets are readily available, many people might decide to build Galaga '88 machines with custom artwork in the original style cabinet. I know that I personally would rather have that than the original Galaga '88 cabinet...

I am putting my 88 in a Midway cabinet and I will be using this for side art, The Atari cabinet is just too ugly.

Funny how Atari could make a decent looking cabinet for Dragon Spirit, and a POS for Galaga '88.
