Doesn't matter if it's converted or not. Just need to complete my Google SketchUp model of it.

Thanks!

I do not.

Just checking in, as a Phx peep. :D

And, erm... Why does the person measuring have to be in Phoenix...? If someone in Alaska can measure it... I'm confus.

Ummm... because I would like to measure it :D I just need access to it so I can measure what I need to. It would be a lot easier then sending 100 emails asking for different measurements.

Hehehe. Oh, gotcha.

A trust thing. :D

IvanTT, do you have one? I know Mariosim doesn't. Aesop?

Nope but I have a CNC machine to cut one out if you're wanting to make one :)

OOOOOOOH! OOOOH! OOOOOH!

Srsly? :D

I've been wanting to make my own Pac-Man cocktail cab for a while, but would rather use a CNC that spend all that time jigsawing and filing/smoothing... Plus, from the plans I got, it's some complicated pieces.

I can make the digital file - what works? Illustrator? AutoCAD?

Very interested. What would you charge to do something like that? PM me if we shouldn't be derailing this thread... Hehe.

Thanks a ton!

Derail away, as that is of interest to me as well, if the price is right :)

If you guys design the files (I use Corel Draw but Illustrator and Auto CAD work fine) I'll do it for cost of materials and a bit of help on my own machines when I need it since your locals and you both likely know more about electronics than I do.

You, sir, just made my whole month!!! :D

I will get right on that. A little work in Illustrator, and let's see if we can make this work! And hell yeah, you can get some help from me in return!!! I'm no electronics whiz, Brien is, but I have another hookup that I know you'll dig. I'll PM you.

Perhaps a dumb question - but you'll just need the vector paths, yes? I don't need to compensate for the width of the cutting bit or anything, do I? And if AutoCAD is better, let me know, I can get someone at work to help me do that... But if it's CorelDraw/Illustrator, I'm good to go. ;)

Oh, and how far apart do the pieces need to be away from each other? And do you need "breakers" for each piece? (So it stays one piece after being machined, and then just having 2 or more small connections to be broken off/sanded?)

I am so happy right now. :)

I'd be more then happy to help where I can.

I can export Google SketchUp files in COLLADA format. Do you know what formats your CNC machine supports?

I'm also assuming that you would need each piece exported separately, correct?

What file extension is a COLLADA file? The machine software itself can import various types of files but I like to sort out the cutting layout in Corel and export to autocad.

DAE is the file extension. Maybe you can import it Corel or AutoCad.

The Pro version of SketchUp has a lot more exporters, but I'm not going to spend $500 on that :)

Well I can't pull that file into Corel. I'll check Illustrator but I'm guessing no. If your goal is to have one cut out I can lend you and old copy of Corel I have laying around or you can download the Corel 14 trial and its good for 30 days. You're right about needing each piece separately and in a vector format. I typically use a 1/4" bit so the whole mess will need to be compensated 1/8" but I can handle that. LMK

Which Corel? I have Paint Shop Pro 11.

Do you need the information in 2D or 3D?

I hate quoting myself, but, erm... Bump? ;)

So if you use a 0.25" bit, then I can place them that far apart? Or is farther preferred? (The way the guy laid out the sheet, he has a couple of pieces 3/16" apart, but I could edit that)

I'm about halfway done with my Illustrator file, and will email you once it's complete.

Still wondering about the breaker question - although I guess you could add that if needed, so for now I'll assume for now that it's not needed.

The closer you put things together the more problems we'll have as sometimes thin pieces will chatter against the cutter and break if it is floating free. I can setup tabbing in the software so don't worry about adding it into the art file but we need some "meaty bits" for the pieces to hang onto.

Hate to put this back on track...

So, part of me wants to put this back on track by saying I live in Chandler...and SHOULD have a Dragon's Lair in the next couple of weeks.

But then part of me wants to just beg to be included in on a CNC of a Ms. Pacman cocktail...

How about both?

:D
