Anyone in London or Leeds wanna help us have fun on our first out of states trip?

My friend and I are finally able to afford our first trip out of the country from May 17th to the 27th. We've never been out of the country before (when you're from Texas Mexico doesn't count).

We are going for a concert on the 26th and 27th and decided since neither of us have ever had a week long vacation before we want to play some of it by ear.

Are there any gamers out there who want to meet at an arcade, barcade, or any place you'd know some fun Americans would enjoy?

I think we're in London from the 18th trough the 22nd, then we head to Amsterdam for a day and back to Leeds for a day or two then back to London.

We are going to do some touristy stuff

Are there any toy stores, collectible stores, comic shops that someone can recommend?

If arcades are your thing (I assume they are), then you really want to check out Arcade Club in Bury.

It's driveable from Leeds. (A second location is about to open in Leeds itself any time soon, so you may find that's open when you visit).

As for London - tons to do and see. Not much I can add tourist wise other than what you'll find online.

I'm not a huge comic fan, but I've heard this place is something of a mecca to collectors:

Arcades in London are slim pickings these days, but there's Four Quarters:

I'd try and get out of London if you can and see some of the countryside - visit Bath, Stonehenge, Cotswolds or take a day trip to Brighton.

I work in London once a week - if you want to drop me a PM, I'll try and co-ordinate my day to be in London when you're there if you fancy lunch or something. Might be able to round a couple of London-based KLOVers for a pint too.

Lived recently there for 3 years. Other than the Video Game museum, which is worth a visit, not much else. As for food, go to Nandos chicken. The best roasted chicken out there. Cheap too.

Look into tourist train passes, they are a great way to see England. Once in London, the tube is super easy to navigate.

I spent a week in England a few years ago. I wish I'd spent more time in places like Edinburgh and less time in London. Got musuem overload, but the Natural History museum was the best.

We are only going to be gone 10 days so yeah any ideas outside of London are welcome. the pass thing is a good idea as we really want to travel around a little bit. I've heard Stonehenge is underwhelming but should still see it.

I wouldn't want to be an American in London during June 3-5. :D
Glad you'll be back in the States during that time.

+1 on the British Rail pass. See much of England by train.
Make sure you find a few Pubs outside of major cities. Go to Bath for Bath Buns and scones (and tea).
Eat Fish and Chips at the seaside.
Also, outside of India, some good Indian food too if you're into that.
Oh, and there are sites to see too ... London has a lot to see.

Stonehenge is out of the way and when you do get there, you can't physically get anywhere near it.

We went to the 'other' stonehenge, because it was closer to London - forgot the name... just some big rocks in a field.

When I was there the exchange rate was 2:1 so everything was pretty expensive, so didn't bother with any shopping or souvenier buying.

Once we got tired of fish and chips, we ended up eating at Indian restaurants, which were really good.

Get yourself to York.

Love the place and try to visit each year.

Such a lovely city, plenty of history, boat trip along the river, restaurants, pubs, cathedral, shambles..I can go on and on about the place :)

Is this a sex meetup thing? This is a sex meetup thing, isn't it?
