Anyone here won the Journy??

I love how everyone accuses the guy of shill bidding, LOL

Why wouldn't he just list the game with BINs and best offers then? Why would he relist it and it would sell for lower? Sometimes I wonder about why everyone is so quick to judge.

SRW: I was the high bidder. It's paid for and NAVA is picking it up tomorrow.

Post it low to gain more attention and lower listing fees.. done all the time.

You may also have someone who really wants the game that will bid very high, but in reality does not have competition that will bid that high, so the shill bids help drive that guy up as much as possible, then when he bids his absolute max the buyer will know, cancel the high shill bid and send a second offer. I thought everyone knew this?

I also find it curious that he says he hopes a KLOVer gets this, but has remained silent about the game on the forums here... Why?

Probably because everybody here trashed the poor guy...

I mean, this guy hasn't really sold on ebay before, he has 16 feedback and everyone just threw him to the wolves and claimed he was shilling.

Works out well for me because everyone decided to not bid because everyone thought he was shady but I really think people need to not just assume that when someone relists an item that it is the SELLER'S fault and some funny business is going on.

What you are saying about shilling can HAPPEN, but it can HAPPEN with anything. Besides, no one does running auctions like this anymore these days....I just really am shocked people jumped on the guy with this whole thing...I guess when he sells his other games there will be shilling also?

Blah Blah Blah.... when your Journey arrives in a pacman cab w/ Metallica stickers all over it... don't cry to us....We Told Ya! Tee Hee...

my buddy was the 2nd highest bidder on the 1st auction. He said the seller emailed him right after the 1st auction ended that the 1st bidder was bogus.

My buddy offered to buy it for $1700 and the seller wanted to relist it. But he would not talk to him on the phone. always by email. The seller had given him his work info. My buddy called him at work and they did not know who he was.

My buddy emailed him and he said it was a family business.. Don't know what that means. It all seemed way to fishy to me.

I told him he should pass on the journey. I was a bit surprised it sold for so little, but when you throw out the shill bid, the next highest was like $1100...

Hope it really shows up. Yes, the game is rare, but I think $1500 is pushing it for that game.. I found one a few years ago and passed it along to a friend(I think it was about $400)..

I have pictures of NAVA loading it onto a truck and they confirmed it was picked up today...I really don't know how they didn't know who he was. Secretary sent me right to him....

In this day and age, a working Journey easily pushes $1500. I've seen broken ones go higher as of late...

Weird.. I guess he lost out of $600 for not returning a phone call..

The one I got for my buddy was working for $400. Personally, I would rather have a wacko...

I still have the pics..

The seller totally shilled that auction just like he's shilling his other one. Let's not be gullable ladies!

Mrbill, that will always be the case though if you find the "right" deal. The actual value and what you "get something" for are never the same.

I found a gold Nintendo World Championship 1990 NES cartridge for $50. Heck, I found numerous ones for less than $400 apiece many years ago.

Someone basically traded me a Tapper (Bud) for Champion Baseball. Someone else sold me a Galaga for $100.

Bottom line is Journey is still a $1500 machine and the NWC Gold is still a $20,000 game

Crimson, he wouldn't have SOLD the game for so low if he was "shilling" but believe what you want. I think he even has a reserve on the DOT and that's an expensive game as well, so I'm not sure what points you are trying to make here.

journey is only a $1500 machine right now as several people are after it at the same time. I agree its worth money, but I think $1500 is pushing it. If you look over the last several years, it was a game that sold for under $1k. I have spoken to a few owners and they sold or bought theirs for $600-$800. I think when a few more people get one, the price will fall back towards $1k.

Journey is sort of like burgertime. It was a $250-$350 game until last year when everyone wanted one. Now I think burgertime is probably a $500-$600 game.

Not sure what your trying to say about tapper? I traded a frogger(UR) for a star wars(UR). So what? What does that mean? I picked up a 2700 rc stella for $10 at a fleamarket? I bought a food fight arcade game for $40 at a flea market? Trades and buying stuff cheap mean nothing as to what a game is worth. Even buying stuff for high prices mean nothing as to what a game is worth. Its just a matter of what people would pay.

In the case of journey, I am sure the postings here hurt the final sale price of the game. But if you look at the 1st auction, my buddy and the shill bidder took it from 1100 to 1700. the 2nd time he sold it, it sold for $1163. Had my buddy decided to make a play for it, I would bet he would have gotten it for probably $1250...

If I was going to sell a high dollar game on ebay, I would have taken much better pics...

Yes, I think the seller is shill bidding on the DOT. That 1 feedback bidder is pretty suspicous..

I emailed the seller to see if he would let NAVL pick up the game. I think he only wants local pick-up and no shipping.

Uh, NAVL picked up my Journey, LOL.

Mrbill, and people are WILLING to pay $1500, so it's not pushing it. Prices here vs prices from other collectors don't trump ebay and the demand. I am positive if I sold a working Journey for $1500 I would have zero problems getting rid of it.

Journey hasn't been $250-350 until last year, LOL...I think you're looking at prices from a LONG time ago, the last few ebay auctions for Journey (including Jay Gallagher winning one who ALREADY had one and he bought this one THREE YEARS AGO ON EBAY went for $1400-1700.

Just because a 1 feedback bidder is bidding does not mean it has anything to do with the seller. Everyone is accusing the guy of doing that when YJDK honestly.

Also, I have to say this comment:
"Even buying stuff for high prices mean nothing as to what a game is worth. Its just a matter of what people would pay."

That as contradictory of a statement as it gets. If X game sells for X amount 10 times, it is WORTH THAT. If you think Journey is an $800 game, great. History and current value sure speak otherwise and your buddy willing to pay $1700+ also speak otherwise. I'm just stating facts on this...

Burger Time $500? Every auction here they go for $300 (in the past 6 months) dedicated, so unless ebay auctions are going bananas, I haven't seen that game rise anytime soon. Journey you just don't "see" anywhere these days.

Your auction pretty much says its worth $1163 today.. As for my buddy bidding $1700, he did that before he spoke to me. I found out after he placed his bid. Now that I know he wants one, I will make an effort to find one. I am sure one will turn up.

I did not say journey was worth $250-$350. I said burgertime was. Once everyone and his brother started looking for one, burgertime shot up in price to $500-$600. Last one to show up at auction was xmas at sacramento. I think it went for $500+ 18 months ago.

What I said is journey is the game du jour.. A few years ago it was lunar lander. LL was a $500-$700 game. then eveyone wanted one and it shot up to $1k-$1200. I think its back down to under $1k. The names change, the hunt remains.. Paperboy, marble madness, 720, star wars, tapper, and now its trons turn.

I hope the game works out for you, the more people that find theirs, the less the remainder are worth. Here is a cocktail for sale in GA.. Maybe someone here will grab it.. I just don't think its that rare..

I guess Burger Time is by area and demand because out here it won't hit as much and there have been a few for sale out here (3 at least on auction in the past year)

Cocktails are a tougher sale these days, I can't get rid of cocktails for much at all, but upright counterparts always seem to fetch much more.

Well, I paid for Journey Friday and it arrived today. Everything works fine on the machine and I am happy with the transaction.

So how much do you guys think my Journey cocktail is worth? i put in a new Vision Pro Monitor. The tape is not the original and the control panel was either covered or replaced by black vinyl. I also have the original manual with schmatics.
