I wanted to strip the paint from the sides of a cab so I found this stuff called Citristrip from Walmart in an aerosal can. It did an excellent job of stripping with a pleasant orange odor. When i stripped the paint though I decided the hell with it, I'll just strip the vinyl that was originally on the cab also that was under the paint. what the Citristrip did was softened the vinyl which made it peel off easily like a rubber skin. Unlike stripper you will have no caustic odor and you dont even have to wear gloves because this stuff washes off with water. Just spray, wait 30 minutes, then peel it right off. No need for a heat gun either. If you buy some post your results.

I used citristrip on my DK and the paint came right off.
It was latex so that made it that much easier.
I would recommend using gloves tho.
I laid the cab down on it's side and after I removed all the paint I went over the side with a towel soaked in water.
Then switched to a clean one soaked with water till all the citristrip was gone.
I kept rinsing the towel in a bucket of water.

I use Citristrip all the time. Works great on control panels. I've never seen it in an aerosol before.

They sell it at Walmart right next to the brush on variety. I have never used the Aerosol version myself.

I love Citristrip. It does have a nice smell so if you work in your basement like I do you shouldn't get complains about the smell.

If you work in a basement with citristrip, you are begging for trouble. I used it in my garage and it was still pretty overwhelming.

using it in my basement the smell dissapears when the spray dries out after 30min. I would assume the brush on formula stays wet longer? The smell does not migrate upstairs into my house and it also makes the typical basement smell go away. My basement always smells like pine and it drives me nuts. My wife loves to smell my hands when I work with the stuff lol

I use only the brush on stuff and it smells great. It doesn't stay long after I clean it up. Now the aerosol version I can't say much about.

Never knew there was an aerosol version. The brush on stuff usually has to be put on kind of thick to keep it from drying out too fast. Not 100% sure it would hurt you, but I need to protect my 3 remaining brain cells.

There is some stuff call strip stop (or something like that) that works great if you are trying to save the art underneath. There is a little trial and error to get the exact length to leave Citristrip on then brush on the strip stop based on what type of black paint the op used. I was able to save the artwork on a Joust that way. My first attempt ended with bare wood (the op used a good oil based paint that bonded right to the artwork :(). But I think the strip stop might have helped.

I bought some aerosol Citristrip thinking it would remove what I thought was vinyl from DK Jr (actually laminate) but anyway it really cleans the laminates well! I realized this as I was spraying the heck out of the sides with it and wiping it off so now I used it to clean the cab and it's pretty much awesome.
