Anyone here use a Willem 5.0c eprom programmer for 2716's?

I'm trying to program some eproms and I have some questions about the setup, any help will be appreciated. In particular I'm wondering what kind of power it requires to program that kind of chip and what the polarity of the power jack is.

To do what you want, you'll need to get a standard AC line cord (like from a lamp). Strip the ends and solder it to the bottom of the power socket on the programmer. (polarity doesn't matter). Plug it in and watch the sparks and smoke fly. Buy a better programmer.

Seriously, I know one guy that smashed a Willem with a hammer after days of mucking with mods and upgrades and stuff to make it work with the older chips.

Now, someone here probably has managed to make it work, but from my experience, the Willem is a semi-ok programmer for newer chips (27c128 and larger), and a complete waste of time for the older ones. Unless, of course, they finally fixed it.

I think most of the complaints have been about pre-version 4. I've got the version 4 and have burned plenty of 2716's-2764's. As for power requirements, I don't think I've had to use an external supply. The power requirements and polarity are printed on the bottom of the unit though. I don't think there's any harm in trying without an external supply, and if it has trouble you can always try again with the external supply.
