I'm tired and grumpy today - but this irritance of mine started over a week ago when the local CL starts getting slammed with (Will buy your pinball/arcades shit).
A search engine I use is now cluttered up with deleted/flagged ads of his/hers and quite honestly I'm tired of it and clearly others are as well as this persons ads will be lucky to make it an hour.

Dear CL post whore. I'm actually curious as to the real intent from you. I quote one of your many ads (that by the way get flagged within the hour posted lol).
"Cash for clunkers. Cash paid for that old pinball machine that's taking up space in your house / garage.
Make her happy and get rid of that machine you were going to repair or never play.
Send me an e-mail and let me know what you have."

Usually it's "Get back that unused space" or "Buying pins $1500" or "Looking to buy a pinball".

Now here's my thinking. you never EVER post exactly what you're looking for. Not even a general "for instance" (I prefer williams 1990+).
There are pins that get posted for less than what you state you'll pay while there are some over priced but yet these games sit there day after day and you keep posting and posting. Personally I think the you're simply trying to find people that have no clue of value but think "Hey I can get rid of this for money!" so you can cash in and screw someone.

The problem I have with you is that you are actually not looking to buy just any pinball machine/s as your ad states. You're trying to cherry pick and buy titles of your liking or something worth more value than what you paid while paying next to nothing (guessing of course prove me wrong).

Dear CL post whore if you are reading this stop being a lying post whore. Be a man and state that you do NOT buy all pinballs and that you are only interested in buying a few select titles. List and state the titles you're looking for and stop post whoring CL with your non sense. If your ad was truthful you wouldn;t keep getting deleted and for goodness sakes once a day! I gladly give out my phone number when I post something for sale or WTB. Why don't you?

Deadlys rant of the day.

Been watching all those ads. Man PDX gets flooded with 'em. Last week had quite a good few post battles back and forth between CL pinball guys. Pretty annoying to see over and over and over and over and over......

Jeez, Deadly. This is exactly what everyone here tries to do, and when they succeed we get to read a "Latest score" type post.

Sure, whoever it is is more aggressive about it, and he isn't going to buy every pin he comes across for $1500.

I have told people "Yes, I buy games, let me come look" when I found out they had a game in an aunt's garage they were willing to sell. I cross my fingers that it's a SW cockpit and bring $500, but when it's a Bad Dudes in a shelled out Pac I pass and I don't feel like I lied to the person. I do buy games, just not that one and not every one I come across.

I feel your pain on some guy messing up your searches, but c'mon. Play a game or two and remember that collecting is a fun hobby.

It's not me.

I actually get tired of the guy that tries to point out overpriced ads. At one time they had some humor, but now it's more vitriol.

Many people just don't realize that the value of their games went down the toilet. They will figure out eventually that it's love em or give em away. No need to attack.

+1 on the "reply" ads. Sure there's clutter in the search results, but no amount of complaining on CL (or here) is going to stop that. It's a fact of life. Get used to it. Don't get so perturbed by it. Heck, I don't even get irritated anymore by the overpriced games that that operator keeps posting over and over for all eternity.

Do you realize that if you didn't flag every one he makes, he wouldn't feel like he needs to post another?

I see no problem with people posting a WTB and hoping to get a $3000 game for $50.

If I don't want to lose games to a guy like that, I'd make my own ad.

As for searching, why not just filter out the "wanted" section? I already have so many qualifiers on my searches to get rid of XBOX, MAME, PSP, Playskool, Barbie, those stupid basketball shooting things you hang on the wall, Arcade Fire tickets, etc that one more won't hurt...

@SeanMcL - I do honestly "try" to remember the hobby is fun. And there's nothing wrong with posting that you're looking but in this case it's out of control and turned into post whoring.

@Brick Top - the price policeing isn't me either because you're entitled to ask what ever you want. As far as attacking .... tired of this persons spamming ass I am. when I want to buy something I put in my ad what I am specifically looking for also followed by feel free to contact me if it's not on the list and you'd like to get rid of it.
If this post whore would actually attempt to put across an honest want ad I wouldn;t be complaining heh heh. I'm hoping said post whore is lurking and see's people are tired of his/her crap.

@Mod - and how do you propose I try to filter this person out? It's not like I can use the easy words like wii or xbox or ps3 - in fact let me share one of what I use.
arcade -xbox -xbox360 -psp -n64 -snes -nes -ipod -ps2 -2600 -360. Filtering can be dangerous too - because I've missed a few deals because their ad met my criteria. While not very likely it does happen.

I know the exact ads of which you are speaking. The arcade/ pinball clutter does suck, but I don't click on them anymore.
I was trying to find a stacked washer dryer unit a few months ago, and this appliance business at 104th and Sandy would literally list the same ad between 10 and 30 times a day. That's a great business practice! Business is slow? Go list the same ad over and over until someone walks into the store. No amount of flagging gets rid of them. It would be a full-time job going through proxy servers to flag them and get them removed. I guess people don't get as worked up and flag appliance ads, but man it really made an rss feed impossible.

We have one of these guys here in Houston. He posts all these "I'm buying and fixing ads" and when he shows up, he tells the person that the machine is a POS and not worth fixing. That it will cost a fortune in parts or that parts are not available, but he will haul it away for them without charge. Unfortunately, several people have fallen for this and have seen their machines on his web site for $$$$$. Even more unfortunately, several people have fallen for his, "I can fix it BS", paid hundreds of dollars and gotten machines that limp along for a few weeks and end up in worse shape than they started off in. These people suck and deserve worse than just getting their ads flagged.

People around here seem to think their stuff is gold. $2000 is not an uncommon amount. There's also stuff like the buying and fixing ads.

Not something I would do, but tough shit. If anyone falls for that it's not his fault. Sounds like he's a good car salesman.

The shits getting good in the local hood. Now there's a pissing match going on that "I should mention" I'm not a participant of. Figured I'd post some CL funnies since this place thrives on drama. I'm sure "flagging" will happen soon but clearly people are getting tired of this dude also.

FIRST "FLAME ON" post
RE: Wanted: Pinball Machine or Parts - $10 (Portland Area)
See, I'm not only cheap and looking to scam some folks out of a pinball machine that I can flip on eBay for thousands, I refuse to pay for advertising. Instead, I'm going to spam Craigslist HOURLY and fight the man, because I...uhhh...hire monkeys or something. Because it's my RIGHT as a spammer to piss everyone off.

Keep coming, dude. We'll never tire of seeing you flagged off. It just makes us grin to think about your blood boiling each time you get "the email".

If you're serious, T***y, write a serious ad. Put it in Wanted. Put a realistic price. Explain what types of games you want and in what condition. And don't repost every freaking 6 hours. Leave it for a week, then come back. If someone wants to give you a CFTBL for $250, they'll find you, don't worry. If you get flagged off, consider for a moment that the other people on Craigslist wait patiently for pins to come up - they don't harass the crap out of everyone trying to con someone into selling them something for nothing. So maybe they flag you because they're tired of seeing you clamor that you want a pinball for next to nothing.

Think before you post, sir.

FLAME ON POST #2 Criticizing FLAME ON POST #1
Pinball People (Whinerville)
I whine when other people do stuff I can not do. I whine all the time when someone puts a listing on Craigslist and gets wants something. Put one listing on and leave it alone. If flaggers left the listing on, it would not get relisted for at least 3 days. BUT when it goes off, you leave no choice but to list it again..I see there are many people out there that would like to buy machines for a good price and others that steal from people.

MY PERSONAL FEELING ON THIS MATTER
First post is sarcastic and funny. I much enjoyed the humor but an email sent to spam whore (my new name for this tard) would have been the right thing to do. Now I have to say the last rebuttal should've simply sent an email to post #1 since they do offer an email address. However facts don't change the fact post #2 was written by a tard. Possibly related to spam whore?? And Wow - take a breath and re-read what you wrote tard. I'd love to mention said tard is a major tard for stating, "If flaggers left the listing on, it would not get relisted for at least 3 days."
Hello moron all you need is a different email address or word your ad differently enough from the first add/post and you're golden. If you're going to make an attempt to sound "brilliant" do your damn research first.

Hmm let's see here gmail, hotmail, yahoo .... yep that allows a person to post a minimum of 3 times a day.

man, I'm so glad I don't cruise PDX for pinballs anymore. It just started getting ridiculous with the 3-4 guys who go around trying to buy pins with their ads. There would always be like 3 "wanted: pinballs. $$$ paid" ads just on the top day alone.

I remember when I was trying to sell my Star Trek 25th Anniversary pin about a year ago. I listed it for a reasonable $1000 yet I had these hyenas coming out of the woodwork trying to scavenge the meat off it's bones for a mere $500-$700 dollars. I was always polite to them, but annoyed none the less. I waited it out about a week and sold it to a nice guy for $900. The weird thing was a think a couple of them were brothers and keep buying and selling pins outta Gresham. Makes me wonder if one of them was Glen? Can't remember names now though.

Anywhoo, I'm done trying to deal with pins up there now. I cruise for arcade games only now. So if we can sift thru the BS multi-crap made by "Bill" for insane amounts of money, I think we'll be OK.

Yes indeed ... Bill is not only destroying classics but his workmanship is "shoddy" at best. He's also a know-it-all tool and is miserable to talk with.
Not sure if Glen posts looking for pins or not. I couldn't imagine he would .. tooo busy. It's not like I'm in the market for anything but I like to cruise through the ads a few times a day. Never know when something might jump out and say, "Buy me." :)

True true.

There's like one or two guys who are constantly selling pinballs and it pisses me off, becuase they list the same 5 pins daily but in Seattle, PDX, Salem, Corvallis, Eugene, etc. And each time the say they are located in a different town. Also the pics on the ads never seem to match the ones the list. Freaking morons.

Yes, Bill is a tool. Bad experiences with him, and we'll never deal with him again. His multicades look like shit, with no rhyme or reason. Dude that 60-in-1 he has listed right now for $1400 is a complete joke! Like, who buys that shit? I just built a real nice multi which will be for sale within the next week, looks ten times better than that, yet I'm gonna list it for nearly half his price. What a bum.
