The last true penny arcade I can remember was at Roseland, in Canandaigua, New York. It had many of the g-rated fan dance peep show type machines, fortune tellers, and machines where you would get a card of a TV/movie star or sports hero. Other things I remember from Roseland were the great old wooden roller coaster and a sky ride that went out over the lake. Last time I was there was as a junior in high school...1983. We took a trip to see my grandma, and one last trip to Roseland. the penny arcade was still there... I wish I had some of those great old machines now! Went back to Rochester a couple years ago... The whole park area is just a hosing development now.

Real Arcade games cost at Least a Quarter Grampa! :)

I'm not a Grandpa yet and still remember playing penny arcades at Coney Island and the other amusement park Steeplechase. I was going thru some old 8mm film movies and stumbled across some footage of Steeplechase.

Steeplechase closed down sometime in the 60's ( I was a wee lad then) but I
I returned to Coney Island in the 70's with my brother where we made several trips on the Cyclone coaster. I remember going into a penny arcade and spending about 10 cents looking into the penny arcades at fan dancers and slapstick comedy. I wish I had all the machines they had in there. I'm sure they are probably all long gone but in a warehouse somewhere. This was before the days of "Quarter arcades" I don't think Computer Space was out yet.

I remember going to Excelsior amusement park in Minneapolis a number of times while going up and the penny arcade was always a stop. There were the crane machines for a nickel and wood rail pins and your weight and fortune for a penny machines. As well as penny skee ball and some em shooting games for 10 cents.

And no, I am not a grandpa (at least not that I know of :D).

Right back at you Parrothead...

I missed the ticket sale yesterday!

There was also a penny arcade at Disney World.

I remember when some arcade games cost a dime.

My earliest experience with video games was around 1973/74 when our local steakhouse had a cocktail pong type game. My brother and I loved to play that game.

Been to this place in D-Land it was classic I played Stunt Pilot and have been looking for another ever since.

Sounds like you're talking about those old rotoscope type things and I recall some of those at Rawhide a wide west tourist trap here in North Scottsdale. The one I recall I think had an old silent Clara Bow scene in it. Aside from that I do recall some of the old EM stuff in Vegas in the mid 70's

Wall, Drug in Wall South Dakota had a lot of the old penny machines, and some nickel and dime ones too. I miss those days when you could just stumble on some of this stuff on location out in the wild.

Hershey Park also used to have a Penny Arcade with a lot of cool EM games in it.

If you look closely around Disney you'll see some of the old Penny Arcade games used as props for other rides. There are a few of them at the Railroad station at the main entrance, a couple in the stores. A Mutoscope at the backlot tour at MGM.
