I was watching some vids on Youtube earlier today and saw that they had an arcade full of games totally abandoned after hurricane Katrina. Chances are stuff is no longer useable but I am curious to see the state the machines are in today.

The place ain't pretty. It has been through hell. Not much was salvageable from what I have read.

Unfortunately they probably went right in the landfill, stuff which was in major floods like that is generally considered hazardous waste and can't legally be sold.

The pics of their arcade that I saw are recent from the end of october.I would'nt have gone through the trouble of trying to buy it I would just take it.

I didn't see any games in this little photo gallery, but there are some pretty freaky looking sights around there. Carnival-type stuff isn't necessarily creepy in an active carnival, but it's ultra creepy when it's abandoned and in total disrepair!!! (Gotta love the commentary too: "The creepy clown, menacing jester, and other statues with once happy open mouths now seem to utter a silent yet never-ending scream." Ha!)

I cant remember where I saw the arcade pics but I do have a video that shows some of the games. Fast forward to 1:38 in and you see some of the games. The photos I saw were of these and the other side of the room was lined with more games, some classics.

This is sad to see again. We were there the year after Katrina to help rebuild, and we drove right past Six Flags. It was REALLY creepy to see all that just sitting there abandoned on a nice summer day.

I live in Mississippi on the gulf coast. I came out here after Katrina to help rebuild and decided to get married and stay a while. We get to New Orleans a lot since it is one of the greatest cities I've ever visited. I will stop by six flags next time I'm over that way and let you guys know what I find.

Every game in there will most likely be totally un-salvageable, with water levels that high and just sitting there after the fact, it's a good bet that every piece of circuit board is nastily corroded.

You couldn't pay me to go in there and remove anything.

I've purchased a total of 15 games since I've lived on the coast. Every single one of them has some form of water damage from minor blistering to cabs crumbling in my hands. One cab has 2 inches of Katrina mud in the bottom and everything seems to work except the chassis. I just finished parting out a Captain Fantastic pinball machine that was under 4 feet of water and had $30 worth of quarters in it! Katrina did funny things out here.

Man, just wear a mask if you go routing around there...I'm sure there's black mold everywhere. Doesn't look like there are any classics to be had.

From the sounds of it, the Hurricane was seen by Six Flags as a blessing, since the park was a huge money loser for a company that was (is?) already hemorrhaging money. They've closed down or sold a half dozen other parks since then as well, and the future of the company is still in doubt.

I'm happy I got to visit Six Flags New Orleans in 2004, the year before Katrina struck. It was an ok park, though I didn't visit any of the arcade games. The dark ride (Jocco's Mardi Gras) was really enjoyable and probably my favorite ride there.

I did get to visit a vintage arcade in the French Quarter on the same trip to Nola. Though I don't remember the name of this arcade, I wonder if it survived the hurricane and is still open. I remember they had a Burger Time and a G'n'R pinball amongst many other games. Anyone have info on it?

That pic of the flooded park sure is sad. :(

See that blue and green roller coaster in the back? That one used to be at Fiesta Texas San Antonio and was called "The Joker's Revenge." Then the moved it to New Orleans - I'm still not quite sure why.

because people complained about it being a rough ride

I live about 1 1/2 hours away from NOLA now... driving by Six Flags for the first time was a very eerie thing. As far as "classics" go in that area, I have seen nothing of the sort. From what I have heard, that storm took everything.
