Anyone here just screw me out of the t2 pin in dallas

Re:13 hour drive guy

Where are the klovawyers? I could have swore someone brought up a case where someone took a seller to court because of this exact situation (agreed to price and pick up, buyer gets there and is told he isn't gogoing to get to buy the item, seller is sued for gas and time wasted iirc). It was over chickens or something? It would be nice to know that guys that drive hours to get screwed had some sort of protection. Shrug

You are likely right as it is a verbal contract. But is it worth the hassle?

I had good experiences and bad one on craig's list. I would not say all sellers are money hungry people and all the sellers are just flakes.
But
I would post someone info on the bad seller's list here. Just so that other people don't fall into this traps.

Sorry that happened to you, man, but them's the breaks. It's a game, get over it. Another one will come along. Don't sweat it too much.

And for the record, the deal's not done until the tail lights are out of view. Until the money has changed hands and the merchandise is gone, it's anyone's game.

Call me what you will, but if I've got a verbal commitment to buy at $500 from someone on something I'm selling and someone else offers me $1000 cash on the spot, I'm selling it. Call me a douche, call me an a-hole, call me whatever you want, but don't call me $500 poorer.

I've been burned WAY more times by buyers telling me "I'll be right there to buy it" than I care to count. CL buyers have been known to flake out ALL the time. I've lived it, I've learned it. I've also been the buyer that's been told to 'turn around' because someone else got there first or offered more money. Sucks, but it's part of the game. Don't want to play? Then buy it on FeePay.

Money talks, bullshit walks.
If that's the case then you should say so in your ads and to anyone who contacts you about the game - "First one to give me my asking price or more cash in my hand gets it..." etc. That's different than telling someone yes, it's yours, and then selling it out from under them.

edit: a deposit? wow, I would never give some stranger a deposit over craigslist. sounds like you got scammed.

when i bought an eight ball deluxe. it was a nice old couple in the middle of the midwest. i sent her a deposit. she had a lot of people try to take cash and walk away with the game while waiting for me to drive there. she kept her word, i kept mine. That's how it's supposed to work. If not, then no loss. but for me games are supposed to be fun first and foremost. it feels good to believe in folks. If I were buying from a busy area of a big city, I'd not have dealt with them, i suppose.

on the other hand, I sold a collectible last year for a cheap price. then immediately got an offer for twice the amount and past it up to be an "honorable kinda guy." the guy that bought it cheap pulled BS and tried to say it was damaged in transit and wanted money back and sent threatening emails. In hindsight, I should have undersold him and went with the guy offer bigger $$$.

the most recent, i dealt with what seemed like a nice guy on a pinball 6hrs away. deal turned out great and i count him as a new friend.

guess it's all just one big human experiment with toys that really don't matter for much anyway. nice to see when something goes toward the positive in humanity.

Dallas.... i guess, i'd never expect a fair deal when the price is way under market until i had the item in my truck.

your first mistake was driving 13 hours to pickup a game...that's nuts. I would say do it if it were an established guy on KLOV, but not some random person.

This sucks but chances are the seller was the one that screwed you. I'm sure he did the whole "someone wants to buy it but if you pay more then I'll sell it to you". I had the guy with my Super Pacman tell me he had an offer of $100, I offered $120 and he said "okay, come pick it up". I'll bet he didn't have any other offers on it but it was still a good price IMO so I grabbed it. I just hate it when they don't put a price or lowball the price just to get the calls coming in.

This crap happens all the time when collecting anything I guess. A big part of this hobby is to screw over the other guy.
I worked out a deal with a craigslist loser and then I see him post on here (unaware I was on here) and he sold everything to someone else.

it happens man thats why you just tey to gt there as soon as you can. Its real frustating when somebody else comes along offering more but its the nature of the beast sometimes.

Its ok, another one will pop up. I lost out on a $150 space shuttle pin a couple mos back, yes, only $150 for a damn space shuttle.. im not bitter or anything heh.

i rebounded with some other cheap scores so it all works out man. Yous bs will pay off someday with a killer score, sounds like your overdue so i predict sooner rather than later.

and another friendship possibly ruined because of dickhead friends.. seen it happen over and over.
probably someone you knew and told.

I agree that the seller is the real problem. I've picked up a few games that when I got there the seller told me they got higher offers, but honored the original deal. I've only had 1 person call back telling me a game was sold before I could get there - no biggie. -Barry

Damn and i thought mine was a good deal at 500$ lol. With tradhed playfield. :p

Happens. I had this same thing happen atleast three times. I knew all three people that did it. No names, but you know who you are!

Now jj I didn't offer more and didn't know it was you until I loaded up. I just got there faster. But you got me on a storage unit full of classics. All jokes aside I worked a deal today on a galaga cocktail left work drove about a third of the way for the lady to text me saying someone offered her 50.00 bucks more. I just told her good luck and I hope they show. It's the seller the buyer is just hustling.

Hey, don't feel too bad. I get that B.S. too. There's no way to tell if their playing you or not. All you can do is just pass on those guys. :(

I agree with what others have said up above: The time is not right for this one--Get the next one. :)

-------------------

P.S. it's tortuous interference with a contract if you have a agreement--a contract--to do something with someone and a third party cause one of those parties to fail to preform--beach--that contract.

It's only breach of contract if you have a agreement--a contract--to do something with someone and one of those parties fails to preform--breach--that contract.

The real problem is proving an oral contact ever existed: as soon as you get to court everyone plays dumb and says that it never existed. That's why oral contracts are usually only worth the paper their written on.

And it's the actual breach that hurts--not the talk.

;)

O'yeah, I forgot about that one! Thanks for the reminder. That makes 4 times I guess. LOL

To my knowledge, I was the first and only guy to be contacted about the storage unit gold mine. Hell, he is still holding games for me and has since found me 2 others I was looking for. Very cool person that I have built a good relationship with. He still has a few in his personal collection to let go one day. Tons of parts still even. I ended up selling him and his wife motorcycles also. Crazy!

Sucks to here on the Galaga. I saw that also, the guys in Indy have an upper hand on us it seems. I think I know who got it BTW.

this is very common here close to dallas, especially with pins, since there are so many pin collectors/restorers! the guy said he had a deal working on this T2 before i even saw the post. i would love to know a better droid smart phone CL app cause my craigsnotifica doesn't refresh new posts quick enough because there's at least 2 guys here in town that get all the deals.....all the efin time and drives me crazy cause then it's retail prices for the same piece after they shop it out!!!! they get all deals and triple/quadruple prices.

I know who it was now. I do agree that's its the sellers greddy fault. He had money on the way and made me turn around because of a higher offer. I belive in honesty and integrety. I treat people the way I want to be treated. I have sold games to people in Houston. Who drive 7 hours to get here. Mean while ill keep getting offers on the game. I simply say that someone is comming to get it and if for some reason the buyer doesn't want it then I will email you next. As for now the game is sold. I have listed cabs on for free and had someone want one but could not pick it .up until the.weekend and wanted me to hold it. Well in that time I had numerous emails offering money for the cabinet. What did I do? I held it until the weekend when the guy could come get it. Turns out the guy wanted it for a father / son name project. I helped him load it and he thanked me for holding it for almost a week. To me someone's word is everything, without that you have nothing.

I'm going to quote this here, because I feel it was a cheap shot someone took.

One of my latest karma comments came from THIS post in this thread, and it's rubbed me the wrong way. Who ever you are, not nice. If you're poking fun, touche. IF you're being malicious, then you're a coward as well as a douche. Man up and own your words.

I'm voting for coward on that one. Never understood why rep doesnt include who posted the point.
