I would like to make a custom serial number plate for my Virtual Boy cabinet, dedicating the game to the memory of Yokoi Gunpei (横井 軍平). It would be really great if it looked like a Nintendo serial number plate. Anyone here know where I can get this done on the cheap? I suppose it isn't really engraved, I am not sure how it is painted on.

It's screened on a thin piece of aluminum, and the serial part might be punched, but would have to see it, or have a better close-up scan to know for sure.

You're not gonna get that "cheap," but it can certainly be done. I'd guess around $100 for a 1-off...?

I am thinking of using a printer decal product on aluminum and them clear coating on top of that.

You could see if Rich at ThisOldGame could make one for you. I'm pretty sure that he made serial plates for DIIK

you could always see about getting a vinyl sticker made and then applying it to a small peice of aluminum. Would look about the same, All you'd have to do is engrave the model/serial number.

Here is what I ended up making:

I printed it on Staples brand clear shipping labels and affixed it to aluminum. Then I sprayed on a coat of Krylon Triple Thick acrylic.
