Anyone near Longmeadow MA heading West for the holidays? I'm trying to get a piece of arcade artwork to Chicago or anywhere in between. It would be an awfully long drive to go pick it up. The artwork is mounted and can't be folded, so the box is over sized.

Artwork

It's actually 2 pieces mounted on foam core and have a width of 42".. If anyone knows a Cheap way to ship these please let me know.. As the width makes the shipping in upwards of $125+.. which really sucks.. Tried UPS, USPS..

Ah, if I would've known...I passed right by there early Saturday on the way back from Funspot...

I have shipped giant/light things like that before. Are you sure you are calculating dimensional weight correctly? I could see $50 but $125+!?!? Whoa. That's nuts.

I should be making it to Cleveland at least...

I'm sure I'll be seeing pete before I take off west.

Shipping

Yes John, I brought the package to both places.. USPS doesn't ship stuff that wide.. Tried to work with UPS and it's the width that causes the increase in shipping.. When I get home from Omaha I'll try a few other places.. Like I said, the graphics are mounted on foam core.. So it's impossible to roll, or fold them up.. I even was thinking about bringing them with me as one of my layovers was Chicago.. But they are to big to carry on the plane.

This may be a solution. Once I sold gigantic oversized car bumpers on Ebay, and the guy told me to cardboard the edges, shrinkwrap them, and bring them to GREYHOUND (the bus company). They weigh the package, size it, track it, call you on arrival, and offer full insurance on the product. It only cost me $80 for both bumpers. What they do is fill the spare luggage area with bulk shipping, you just may have to wait a few days until the item gets to the nearest depot through a couple of xfers if there is no direct. Kind of like luggage swapping on connecting flights. Check out their website for info. My stuff arrived A-OK
