Anyone Have Slick Shot Manuel? Cueball kicker issue.

I pickup a really nice Slick Shot today that worked great when we were checking it out. Well let me add that you had to put a flashlight inside the coin door to make the cue ball come back. Otherwise it worked perfect and seem to register all the shots made from different starting points on the small play field.

Now I have this beast sitting in my living room and it has a loud buzz. Err
Anyway I believe the noise is coming from the cue ball kicker for lack of better words. The same piece that needed bright white light to act properly.

Of all the crazy arse problems....

My girl put my desktop swing arm light inside the coin door. No love yet still buzzing hum. So I am looking at the cab and it looks like it's not level. So we shimmed the back of the cab up so it was pretty close. It now works lol go figure. Some times the infrared does not work and the cueball wont kick out for the next shot. So if you move the 60watt light bulb a little then the cueball will kick out.

Crazy but it works and it is pretty fun to play. I also swear this thing weighs more than my nba jam.

We have looked and looked but do not see the infrared eye over by the kicker. If I could find the damn thing I could try to clean it.

I have no freaking idea where to start on this beast. Any ideas people?

Well with 2474 plays this machine is brand new. We figured out that the machine needed a 15 watt light bulb. Like the kind you find in your fridge. No shit that's it! It was hidden under a little cardboard cover. We are in the process of cleaning up both IR bars and it should be back up and running perfect now less the damn flashlight.

If You need a board I have A Kinda tested one.

Cool I will keep that in mind.

I put in a jamma game and gave me a missing ,QUE?

It must be that little board by the cueball gate telling the system that no q-ball was found. With out the original board in place for it to communicate with that is.

----

On another note the new "working" light didn't fix jack. The machine had a frosted 15 watt bulb in it. I put my clear fridge light in and its still not closing the gate. It just buzz's away with the gate open and wont set the balls on the video part... I guess it might be worth buying a frosted one at wally world tomorrow. After that I am stuck with out the manual.

Very strange game and as before if I move the desk light I have shoved up its ass it will close the q-ball gate wtf???

I had a chance to pick one of those machines up local to me a couple years ago and I should have.... always thought they were neat. Glad to see on getting some love. Cheers

I have crushed 2 working ones. So I have a ton of working parts for slick shot. Those custom opto sensors are nor repairable. So be careful.

The lights sole purpose is to light up where the cueball is in the cabinet front. It should have no effect on releasing the ball.

If the ball does not get placed in rear trough, the game will start beeping and flash "call attendant" on the screen.

I forget if the rear trough has a mechanical or optical sensor back there. But your problem is probably there. Maybe someone dumped some trash back in there and the ball can't get all the way to the front?

Thanks for the manual and I read all thru it but not much there. The manual mentions the ball sensors in screen 4 of test mode. Well mine doesn't have a screen 4 or a ball sensor mode that I can find.

Bill thanks for the post. The machine works perfect if you have a flashlight lit up inside the coin door. I just point the flashlight towards the gate for the q-ball and that in turn shuts the gate which stops the buzz.

After a shot sometimes the gate will not open to let the q-ball roll to the pocket to retrieve it for the next shot. (Now with flashlight on) if I move the flashlight a little off the gate it will in fact open. Which lets the ball roll down so you can shoot again.

All we can do is laugh at this stupid thing. There have been many many laughs I promise you.

So this is where I stand. The machine works fine if you have a light in the machine. When the ball wont roll back down to the pocket you just move the light a little and bam it opens the gate.

lmao crazy piece of fun junk...

I can take a bunch of pics if you think that will help. I can pull out the gate part and give you a some better shots.

Are your plans to keep it? I send you off those parts and you can swap to see if you can fix it.

That's awesome that you that you would do that! I just need to understand how the light makes it work in order to fix it. Heck there might be another bulb that's burnt out that I can't see.

I wanted to give this one to my brother in law for his bar if I can get it working. Less the brand new monitor that is.

I might be taking you up on that offer once I figure out what the real issue is.

Right now as it stands there has to be some sort of sensor that reacts to light right there. I don't see it yet but have not started taking it apart either.

That's the next step for me in this process. Thank you for your help as always.

So the light issue was going to drive me nuts till i figured it out.

Well I removed the cardboard cover over the light bulb for the ball return. Wouldn't you know it, the machine now works fine and the q-ball is returned every time.

So its all fixed now and I just need a few cosmetic pieces and little black paint to do some touch ups.

I had a chance to pull put the part and the board does look like it has a opto sensor.

I would guess the emitter is bad and the light from the bulb helping it to work. Here is a pic

My machine makes the same buzzing noise once it is started. The ball return lift gate is the source of the noise, almost like its against another part. Maybe a leveling problem? Mine also does not detect the qball on the playfield. I tried accessing the "ball motion test" screen but can not find it. In the diagnostic screens area I cant access: color bar test, ball moion test, and cartoon screens. Anyone else have this problem?

probably bad opto sensors on the playfield. If it turns out you need them, I crushed 2 working slickshots.

I did not mess with the test menu much. I did not notice a ball test screen.. I can check what I find on mine.
