This "competitor" was on the glass of my Wizard of Wor when I bought it in 1998. I know they're not original equipment from the factory, but I think its kind of cool so I left it on there all these years. Holds the quarters nicely. I always hated when some jerkoff would reach in front of me when I was playing and put their quarter on the glass. Anyone have one?

I did remeber seeing those in some arcades. And I remeber the jerks who would put thier quarter right in front of you while playing.

Never saw one of those.

That is why you had to beat them to it and put quarters up before them (and hope they weren't bigger and going to take your quarters - those were the days). :)

These days I wouldn't put up with that crap but I guess that comes with age...

Sorry about that.

I used to do that too, but never in the guy's face. I just hated the games that the glass wasnt tight and the quarter would fall through to the bottom of the game. But I have bought games that have quarters in them, so I think I am even now. :D

I vaguely remember lining up quarters, but I born in '81. Missed the biggest chunk of it.

My dart machine also has the quarter tray. Never seen one on a vid - they were just lined up wherever they would stay on the game.

That's why I loved Dragon's Lair.

1.) Kid puts quarter(s) on upper ledge of control panel.
2.) Cue "Marble" scene.
3.) Joystick gets pulled DOWN repeatedly.
4.) Quarter(s) fall into machine.
5.) Kid: "WTF?"

I seem to remember putting them in the marquee so you did'nt lose them.
Those were the days.
I was playing Ladybug the other day on the 48-in-1 thinking I can't believe
how much I enjoyed playing it as a kid.

I remember always lining up quarters on the lower marquee bracket. I also remember one time, a guy put a quarter on a machine while i was playing it. I had put 4 quarters in the machine and i still had 3 credits left. when my game was over and he did not get to go next it started a friggen brawl between several people about the proper etiquette involved in the whole thing. He was dead set(along with a few people) that i needed to keep my quarters up so others can see them. not put them into the machine. I and a few others that sided with me said hay I already put my money in the machine how the hell do you think its your turn next?

Oh and the game was Tron and it had just come out. It was the second time i ever seen the game

Wow neith system, never ever seen em over here.
On lining coins..... fight and more fights and if it wasn't about who's turn it was it was about I put two coins, that ain't yours etc etc..
Always hated that shit, same with playing pool.
I always said, who says I'm done after this game.
Don't...DDDDD don't rush me Bitch.

Don't you guys go to bars with pool tables?
Nearly every table has them...

It's supposed to prevent fights, But i have seen plenty of fights over the quarters on the board.

A good amount of etiquette:
1. Know your number. Don't forget it.
2. Never ever touch somebody else's quarters. This is rule #1.
3. Never move any quarters (including your own).
4. Only have one set of quarters up there when it is busy.
5. If it isn't that busy, you can have multiple sets of quarters but leave a space between each set. So if somebody else wants to get on, they can. What you want to avoid is consecutive games while people are waiting.

PS: During the Street Fighter II craze, quartering was also popular.
