Hi everyone,
I'm trying to use Beast Busters: Second Nightmare in a TV show, but I need to secure legal clearance first. Do any of you have contact information for SNK Playmore? I've tried emailing them to no avail. We're getting close to deadline and it would be a real bummer to have to trash the cabinet just to cover up all the artwork. I hope someone can help!

Thanks so much,
Farrell

Yeah I tried those email addresses. A phone number would be amazing. It's never a good sign when your USA website hasn't been updated since 2005. Sigh.

We can cover up the art, I guess. But we also wanted to feature gameplay. So if we don't get clearance, we'll have to gut the cabinet, take out the screen and replace it with another one so we can patch a different game in there. It could get ugly.

I was hoping to buy the cabinet myself after production is over, but if it gets torn apart, it'll probably be unsalvagable.

Do you guys know anything about modifying those cases? Is it possible to replace the screens? Or even patch a different video feed into the existing monitor?

update: I found their address in New Jersey. Their phone number doesn't work. Looks like SNK has moved its offices out of the US. Sad.

I don't know about that - they've got press releases on their website as recent as 1/5/2010. What I'd do, if you haven't gotten any response back yet anyway, is send another email and request a Press Login first off (I'd start the title of your email with PRESS LOGIN REQUEST). Second, be as forth-coming as you can - tell them about the media venue you're a part of, what it is you're doing/planning, and see if you can request a contact with their media relations department (which could be internal, but it could be a third party considering how small SNK/Playmore is these days). Since its regarding a past arcade machine, they might not have the answers you're looking for straight off the bat. Plus, a lot of these companies won't advertise their phone numbers and email is often the best method (use the term 'best' as loosely as possible).

When I used to write game reviews, I remember I had a hell of a time getting a contact from SNK, but the guy who ran our website was on very good terms with a couple of their contacts. The trick is to keep trying (but don't spam).

While looking at their press releases I noticed the PR guy has his contact info on some of them. Most recently at the end of December. He may be able to put you in touch.

Like I said maybe he can put you in touch with whoever. Good luck!

I remember Mike Meyers handles PR for a lot of game developers/publishers. Remember to mention SNK/Playmore when talking to him.
