Anyone have any experience with Comet "Sunlight" white LEDs?

So I'm typically die hard incandescent when it comes to pinballs (especially EMs). Mostly because after trying 3 or 4 companies over the years, the warm whites always look a tad green, and the cool whites always look really blue. Enough that it throws off the colors on the PF and it bugs the crap outa me. Then after a good 10 mins in the machine, I rip them all out, put the incandescents back in, then sell them to someone.

However.....I picked up a Rollergames which isn't even in my possession yet (still in transit), and over the past few days I've ran across a ton of pictures of it LED'd and I liked it enough to try this again (especially since it's such a dark game).

Comet carries "sunlight" now. It appears to be in between warm white and cool white. In the pictures it looks like exactly what I'm looking for, but I know looks can be deceiving. Anyone have any experience with these yet? I know they are fairly new. And do you have any pictures of them installed?

I have been using the Sunlights on my pins lately and I really like them. They are definitely in between the warms and cools but if you are a hardcore incandescent guy, you will still likely be disappointed.

Ok thanks, I ordered some of them and some of the "natural" white. They were cheap enough that it was worth a risk.

I can't speak for EM machines, but I put Comet sunlights into a buddy's 1978 Star Trek, and it looked great. Vintage feel with just a slight touch of newness. I think you'll be pretty happy with them. What style of bulbs did you get? I think I went with the frosted SMD ones.

Yep you were all right!! I went with the double LED frosted ones. Sadly although comet said the ones I got were 1.8X brighter then the 44s in there, they were not, they were almost identical in brightness (maybe a TAD brighter).....so that's when I threw my Cointaker warm whites I had laying around next to them and they were identical in color temperature to the sunlight bulbs, but significantly brighter then the incandescent 44s without being overkill. So I actually put the Comet sunlight's in the head (with some red and blue coin takers behind the "rollergames" logo, and the Cointaker warm while and cool white super bright frosted in the playfield (I added a light on the pit, and a few other dark spots too). I'm EXTREMELY happy with the results!!!

Here's a couple pics (I was in the process of shopping out that's why the apron was missing, and I will add a pc later of the back glass, I don't have one with me at work right now)...

Sunlight is all I use today.

To the Op, where he references purchasing Frosted, and was looking for a 1.8 time brightness, that would refer to clear. You mentioned you purchased frosted. Frosted is around 40%-50% brighter
then incandescent.
They also come in 1 SMD, Twin 2835, and Op-Max.
These are 1.75x bright, 1 SMD frosted, 2X bright Clear, 2.25, and then 2.5x, with Op-Max at 3X.

So there is a brightness level for everyones taste.

If you are use to a CT Retro or Super, these are a 1 SMD 5050
A CT 2 LED, is a Twin 2835, although the original site shows a picture of a 2 LED, leading to much confusion, as well as some website detail.

The 2 LED Frosted you purchased, are best for EM, or sensitive eyes in a Solid State....Going Brighter, is easy,

The Kelvin Range is 3000-4000 Warm, 4000-5000 Sunlight, and 5000-6000 for Cool or Natural White.

I highly recommend our Best Selling Twin 2835 in Sunlight Frosted for DMD and some SS for a game that Pops!, can be played in the dark in most cases.

At $.59/100, we have many pin vendors who use only this everywhere~

Thanks for all the info!!!!! I just bought some more from Comet for the back glass (it looks out of place compared to the PF now). I got some red, blue, natural white and sunlight single 5050 SMD frosted this time, because I like the brightness of the Cointaker super frosted (just not the price, lol).
