Anyone have an opinion on the tektronix 2230 oscilloscope?

I got a chance to pick one up for $40 bucks working with probes. I have no idea how to use a scope but I've always wanted to learn

That's a deal. Get it. Any 2xxx Tek for $40 is worth grabbing.

The 2230 is a combo digital/analog storage scope, so it has the ability to capture, save, and recall waveforms, which is a little fancier than a regular analog scope. You might not use that feature, but it looks like it is a basic 2-channel 100 MHz analog scope as well. They go for decent money on eBay.

$40 w/ probes ... no brainer.
Looks like a good scope. Also has cursors. :)
Note the blacked out XY button ... ooooooowwwww

Just look up 'oscilloscope tutorial' on youtube. I'm sure there are many. The basics of scopes are all basically the same, and then on top of that, different models of scopes have different bells and whistles and other optional features, but honestly you tend not to use much of that stuff for general arcade work.

You mostly just need to understand timebases, triggering, and how to display waveforms, which any tutorial will give you.
