Anyone have a worn Taxi playfield they'd let go for cheap?

I have an empty Williams Taxi pinball cabinet. It appears to have all the wiring, the transformer and other misc. parts. Seems like all i need is the playfield, boards, and translight. I thought it'd be neat to see if I can try to piece it back together. Condition doesn't really matter to me. I know it'd cost a fortune to buy all this stuff in great conditon. Just kind of testing the waters to see if it's possible to get some of this stuff cheap and see if this is a worthwhile project to undertake. I figure i'll probably have to drop some decent money for the boards.

If you were closer to me I could hook you up but shipping would kill any deal I could give you.

What kind of condition is the cabinet in? I commend you for taking on such a restoration as a learning experience but consider the value of the complete game before spending too much dough. You could likely find a complete project for what it will cost you to put one together from pieces. That said... I've done dumber things ;)

Just my $.02

Yeah, shipping would hurt big time....i'd probably have to get the playfield for almost nothing to make shipping worthwhile.

The cabinet is in decent shape. I got it and was going to use it for a virtual pinball cabinet, and i've had it stored under my stairs for a few years. Then i got some free pinball legs from someone and decided to pull it out and just stick the legs on the cabinet so it wasn't sitting on the bare floor. I start to take a closer look at the cabinet and see that it looks like nearly all the wiring is still intact. Then i start to think that maybe i could slowly rebuild the cabinet over the years if i can pick up pieces for real cheap here and there. The boards will be expensive no doubt. I figured a beat to hell playfield is nearly worthless, so i was just hoping maybe someone was going to trash one or something and i could put it in my cabinet.

But you are right, a working Taxi in poor condition is probably only worth 5-600 tops, so it's not worth it for me to invest too much $$ into this. I just thought it'd be a neat thing to try and it would be a good learning experience.

Taxi is one game I clearly remember playing as a kid i thought it was the best. one day i would love to own one. With that being said i admire your idea and wish you luck on it. Kinda reminds me of that one johnny cash song with the guy who built the car one piece at a time.

Yeah, over the years of collecting, i've aquired odds and ends pieces for different games. So i figure i'll just keep my eyes open for odds and ends pieces for the Taxi pinball, and maybe sometime in my lifetime i'll aquire enough pieces to do it!

Check RGP. I think I remember seeing a post for a used one.
