Anyone have a list of rules and tips for Cloak and Dagger?

I've read the manual and googled for tips, but only find how the scoring works.

What I want to know are things like:
Is there a shortcut to start your first game on a level higher than 9? (I, Robot and Crystal Castles do...)

What are the hidden clues? fuses? that the arrow is pointing to at the beginning of each level?

I see the 3 words of ->->->MAP<-<-<- but am I supposed to shoot something to get more maps? or just the white 5??

How many other things are going on that aren't obvious?

And thanks but no thanks, I don't need any tips like shoot the red boxes and collect the green ones :)

The White blocks when collected (walk over them) give you a map of the next level. If you don't collect the map, then you can constantly shoot and the game will show little X's so you can navigate through the level.

The closer the call when exiting the level, the more bonus you get. So you can light the fuse real close to the end of it and get a big bonus if you make it out alive.

Holding down both joysticks while in the elevator will allow you to skip levels.

Also, pay attention to the text that pops up while you're in the elevator; it gives hints.

Re: the close call bonus: my recollection is that if you make it into the elevator and see the fire effect between the seam in the elevator doors as it descends, you've earned the bonus for that level.

a-ha! IN THE ELEVATORS! I, Robot has you do it when entering the transporter, so I was trying to do it at different times but didn't try IN the elevators!

Great tip! Thank you!

There is also a warp hidden in the walls on level 1. Shoot straight up just outside the elevator. Clear the wall to the top of the screen and there will be a flashing box. Stand on it and hit the igniter to warp to level 16.

YESSSSSSSSSS!!!!! BINGO!!!

That's what I'm talking about!

Thank you and rep given to everyone so far :D

For the maps portion of the game, it's broken down into 4 levels. Each of the first 3 levels has a white box somewhere on the screen. Make sure to walk over (i.e., "collect") this box before exiting/completing the level. Then on the 4th level, all the bombs will be semi-invisible. On this 4th level, the screen is broken down into thirds. For each map you collected (white box) on the previous 3 levels, 1/3 of the screen will have arrows on it. So if you collected all 3 boxes on the 3 previous levels, there will be arrows all the way across from starting the screen to exiting the screen. (If you missed collecting one of the white boxes, that 1/3 of the screen won't have any arrows on the invisible level). If you keep your feet on the arrow line, you will be safe from stepping on any bombs. That way, you know your path across the invisible level and just have to concentrate on shooting enemies and avoiding them. I hope that made sense.

Come to my house and I'll show you! :):D;)

YES! TOTALLY MAKES SENSE! I know to get the the secret boxes for the map, but didn't realize the 1/3 screen aspect of them!

And yes yes yes I'd love to come over and you can also help me on my Kram strategies... :D

This thread delivers!

Thanks guys for all the tips. I did not know about either of the warps. underappreciated game.

NICE! Hidden transporters in the caves?!
There are so many great things going on here! And super fun to see how scary the superguard is.

I don't know anything about the game at all, I just had that bookmarked in case it ever came up in a tournament, but it never did. :)

Yes! Great info so far!!

Hey 1 other question... How do I reset the high scores? I didn't see it in the system menu or in the manual.

Thanks again!

It's kind of hidden in the manual, but below is a photo of how to reset the high scores.

Even with the warps, high scores on Cloak and Dagger really impress me. When I bought my machine it was completely dead and had been sitting in someones garage for 10 years. But once I got it to work the old high scores were still on there, and someone who owned it before me had filled the top 10 scores with almost all 1 million score games. I'm not sure if it was the guy who I bought it from, or if it was someone else. But pretty impressive (I took a photo to preserve those scores before I reset the high scores). Is anyone on KLOV DWH? haha

Awesome! Thank you! Yeah, I skimmed right over that paragraph...

And wow, those are serious scores. And it looks like the top score got back up to the 4th floor, but didn't escape??
