DPtwiz measured a Galaxian for his reproductions and the left and right brackets are symmetrical, but if you look at my cabinet photo the right side is wider than the left, even though it has been hackishly cut.

I am wondering if my cabinet is a 25" Galaxian. If you have one can you remove the bezel and snap a photo of the brackets, and possibly measure them?

I have never heard of a 25" Galaxian, but if there is such a beast can someone point me to what monitor it used?

Mine has the tag on the left but not the right, so I am guessing that mine was not a 25"

I am going to PM Jason and see if he still has the cabinet.

Hey Tighe,
I actually bought that galaxian from Jason and it is sitting in my garage as I type this. If you want to come and check it out, you are welcome to.

The 25" Galaxian did exist and I believe was the first 25" color game. I think some of the very first Galaxians were the 25" model and the monitor they used were the Electrohome G02 IIRC. Of course this is going from various posts in the past.

I've thought it might be fun to cram a 25" in a Galaxian cabinet in the course of a restoration, but then it would look odd next to a Galaga. An original 25" is nice tho

Wouldnt look odd next to my Galaga,I did cram a 25" into it during my restoration and everyone that plays it loves it :)

What did you use for a monitor glass? I need to get a monitor for my restore and can use either size. I don't have an original monitor bezel, so I was wondering what you used? Maybe a picture if possible? Thanks

I'm going to get BOOOED for this. I used an origonal galaga bezel that was not purfect and made a purfect line all the way around the size of a 25" monitor and .....wait for it....Scraped the paint off with a razor blade. It was something like an inch and a half maybe two on each side and all on the top and bottom. It looks great and some people dont even realize I did that until I tell them, and it looks way better then those half ms pac and half Galaga ones.

If you were "making" a 25" Galaxian, you could at least get the plastic monitor bezel from the Ms Pac / Galaga reunion cabinet. That would be an easy way to at least get SOMETHING in there to make it look like it belongs in there...

I had one of the ellusive and somewhat mysteroius 25" beasts. The monitor was original and was an Electrohome. The chassis was massive and the monitor did not work. I put a 19" in it and bezel. A friend of mine still owns it some 8 years later. Unfortunately, I never had any pics of the 25" monitor. It must have been pricey at the time as Galaxian was the first RGB full color game released.

I'd do that and probably just mask off/stencil a piece of tempered glass and spray the underside black. No art, just blacked out borders.

And since you'd mount the 25" tube without a frame, you could just pull a 25" tube from a thrift store TV, then use an 8-Liners replacement chassis.

Notice the misspelling of "Enclosed" on the midway sticker!! I was told they used the 25" monitors because they RAN OUT OF 19" ones!! The game was the first color video game to be released on large scale (yes, there was the 8 player Sprint that use the same color monitor a couple years before) but it was basically a home TV set modified for RGB...there were quite a few 19" with same home set too! Todd

Your Galaxian is probably just one of the older ones. Mount was different for a different monitor. Here are some pics of mine:
