Hey Guys,

Ok...Toby is helping me with getting my 21" computer monitor mounted in my Dragon's Lair cab for this DAPHNE project...what a pain in the ass..

I was wondering though, anyone out there have pics they could post in this thread of your own cab with a computer CRT mounted in it?? Would like to see some ideas on how is the best way to mount mine...I am not REALLY good at building my own brackets and stuff but can usually "copy" someone else's work if I can see a pic...multiple angles would help!!

Thanks everyone!!

Jess

I painted the front of the monitor black. Took apart the monitor shell, used the bottom, and mounted it on the cab. Then put the monitor back in the shell. Ive done 2 this way.

Yeah, I just built a wooden frame around the monitor on a friends mame machine to attach to the sides of the cabinet. Let me see if I can find a picture or two... I did take off the plastic outer of the monitor, though. Made it a lot easier.

Here ya go. Found quicker than I thought I would...

Was able to attach to the sides of his cab with L-angle brackets. Just laid the game on its side, slid this in (I measured everything out and built beforehand so that the width of the wooden frame fit the inside of the cab) and then bolted in.

I also have a few screws with baling wire strapping the monitor to the wooden frame securely. In the last pic, you can see the baling wire, and how a few screws went through the metal shielding of the monitor to attach to the wood.

I used 3/4 inch ply, cut the square of the monitor, screwed the monitor to wood usind holes on the crt on the 4 corners, then ran metal straping from one side of the wood around the metal case of the crt then to the other side of the wood and secured both sides with screws through the ply. It all gets covered with the bezel. Then secured the monitor to the cab with brackets on the inside of the cab.

Here's a couple pics of my only MAME cab before I sold it off. There were only three games that I cared about playing on the cab. Guess which ones they were?

Thanks...

Thanks for posting pics and suggestions...I appreciate it..

Getting the frame off the monitor has proven to be quite a pain in the ass...so I have decided to keep it on. The monitor is a black sony trinitron so it matches up well..and it is so big that it is going to stick out of the back a little even if I take the frame off....

I have it set up with a "temp" solution until I can figure out a better way to keep it in place...I think I may use a combonation of what you guys posted...seeing different ways helped a lot...

Thanks everyone...

Jess
