Anyone got a good 1801/2001 Sharp yoke I can borrow (or buy)?

I need one awfully bad for testing purposes....

I'm almost at the point where I'm going to have to repair it as much as possible, then send it someone trustworthy for final testing.

I have a Vision Pro yoke with the same neck size and yoke readings, but I'm getting a slightly squiggly picture. Don't know if it's because of a grounding issue with the chassis or what.

If I could get someone to elucidate as to WHY the yoke goes bad, maybe I could fix it...

I've been thinking about the yoke and the only way I can think of failures are cold solder joint, dirty connectors, or the insulation on the windings starting to go. Not sure why these particular ones go bad unless they get hot in the cab or maybe the flyback weakens them a bit when it goes. The flys do seem a little vulnerable on these as well.

Have you checked it out with a ring tester yet? My guess is it shows one side marginal or bad in which case you would need to find out where and if it is salvageable.

Put this bad yoke on the ring tester tonight. Horizontal yoke reads GOOD. Vertical yoke reads LOW MARGINAL....

I guess that is an indicator it is bad. I assume somewhere the insulation is weakening unless it is the solder joint or connector. I wonder if the yoke just goes bad or if the chassis causes it.

I was thinking about that, but would you have to unwind the yoke to make sure you get the spot covered? That seems like to much work. I guess you could try spraying it and hope it gets the spot. Has anyone tried it on a yoke?

Having personally unwound a yoke, I don't see how that stuff would work.

I might have one of these. I stripped out a monitor with a broken neck and blown flyback. Not sure if I saved the yoke but I rarely toss them.
