I need the horizontal and vertical yoke measurements, please.

I had a game came in with a bad D9200. The chassis had two big burn spots - one on the main chassis between the yoke connector and flyback, and another on the neckboard that went right through the board. After several different orders from Mouser that didn't fix anything (keep finding new bad parts), my boss decided to go with the quick repair route and just ordered a new replacement chassis from WG.

Got the new chassis in, and nothing. I can hear it turn on, but I get no neck glow and nothing on the screen. I think the B+ is too high and it's in shutdown, but WG has gone home for the day and my own personal working D9200 is in a game at my parents house right now, and I won't be able to get to it until this weekend. I wanted to deliver this game tomorrow.

I noticed the yoke has a dark spot on the top middle, and I want to make sure the yoke isn't bad - and caused a problem with my chassis if it is. Right now, the yoke is measuring:

Horizontal - 1.0 ohms
Vertical - 3.4 ohms

Seems awfully low on at least one of those. Still, I know VGA tubes can have different values than you'd expect on a CGA tube.

Also, even if the video card in the game were bad, wouldn't I still expect to see a "No Video Signal" box on the screen when powered up?

.35 horizontal
2.45 vert

315uh horizontal
6.35mH vertical

Hmm. That's pretty close. I think my battery is going on my meter, as my readings lately have been slightly off.

What's the B+ supposed to be running at on these things?

Read your b+ right off L801 choke.. 170vdc

Well, I measured it at the HOT and had 168vdc, so that appears okay. Wonder why the brand new chassis would have no neck glow and no pic? It looked simply plug and play out of the box. I'll have to call WG in the morning....

D9200's are great... when they work.

I take it you snatched up one of those countless refurbs they got on location? :) I was tempted to get one, until I saw you could get a new D9800 for about $100~ more.

not sure how you identify it, but you should check to make sure you got the newer neckboard. I got 3 of these with the older pre-recall kind, and naturally when I mentioned something to WG about the recall they told me GFY.

if so, they're pretty notorious for burning resistors and color transistors.

but you can't even get the beast to power on, so good luck with that first step. :)

Even better are the dx500's when they work. The picture quality is better; it's not as picky with the input signal, superior tube. Its like the d9200 however waaaaayy less cluttered. Call it a lite version of the 9200 that makes more sense.

Would a bad yoke cause no picture? Wouldn't I just get a dot or something?

I checked the yoke a little more closely and have found a couple of obvious burn spots, and a copper strand from the top of the neck up to the yoke wires has come loose, but I'm not sure where it connects.

I called WG and left a message, but probably won't hear back before I leave today.

Is it even possible to swap the yoke out? It says it's a bonded yoke....

What the deal are you not getting any high voltage? Are you getting chatter but no high voltage?
Yoke is bonded and impossible to remove without destroying the tube... infact i have some glass imbedded in my arm from doing one...not bad, just a small fragment it pushed out.
Brings new meaning to being one with a CRT hahahah.

No HV. No neck glow. Good B+. I hear the chassis power up, then nothing on the screen. No static on the face of the tube.

I pulled it out of the game and took it to a Pac Plus to test it with a CGA signal instead of VGA. I hear chatter, but still get no image.

Called WG and left a message. Did not get a response today.

Also, if the yoke has burn marks and at least one copper strand broken loose from one of the yoke wires, I'm not optimistic that the yoke is any good, either, so a working chassis won't do me any good....
