Anyone good with computers? Willing to pay to find out who is flagging my CL ads.

Its the same person, all my "arcade" ads go down immediately after posting, doesn't matter what time of day. I am willing to pay someone to find who has been flagging me for the past few years.

It happens from 9am-midnight daily, the dude has no life and I want to find out who it is.

I could be wrong, but it takes more than one flag (each from different IPs) to remove a CL ad. It's not just one guy, I'll bet, but a number of guys. Just a thought.

I don't think that would even be possible....With craigslist acting as the intermediary, there is no direct link to your "unknown flagger"

Unless someone can hack into craiglist, I would think its impossible to figure out.....but then again, my forte is not computer software.....

Anyone else???

The only thing you could do is embed a photo in the posting on a server you control and log all access with their IP. Then set your computer to hit the listing repeatly and log when it goes down. Then you can look at the logs of IPs and the the flagger would be one of the last accesses. But then still you only have their IP which you can narrow down to an area if you are lucky, depends on their service provider.

The question I am wondering is what are you listing that you keep getting flagged over years? If you are a dealer you aren't supposed to list on Craigslist. You selling MAMEed machines? I know I flag them when I see them, as at least around me there are a few guys destroying nice cabinets left and right.

Lastly, I believe that a listing won't be pulled until you get more than 1 flag.

The only way to track anything would be to embed an image file into each listing that is hosted on a server you control. Log hits to the image, and then correlate that list to consistent IP's on each listing that gets flagged.

That will only tell you every IP who visited though, no way to see who flagged from there.

To find out who the ip belongs to though requires a warrant, which you have no legal grounds to obtain.

Seems like I read about this in another thread and it was mentioned that there are programs a person can get that send out multiple flags from different IP addresses so one person can effectively take down an add instantly. I might be saying it wrong, but that was basically it. Also in that thread, they mentioned that there was a way to find out who it is, but I can't remember what was detailed out.

Not sure if that helps.

This is exactly what happens, as I could have five ads and all of them go down within 20 seconds, and when the guy is sleeping (after midnight) They stay up on CL all night long til he wakes up

You can get a good deal of information on an IP address freely:

How many times are you listing your items, also how about you post the title and text of one of your ads here so we can see if there is anything that this guy might use to flag you, like your phone number or the same image as previous ads.

I see you're from michigan, it isn't just me he flags, its almost every arcade ad he doesn't like.

This sounds more like someone flagging so he gets the item before anyone else. It is common for pinball ads to get flagged within minutes on any craigslist. Especially if the price is good.

Im not a dealer, im an operator trying to unload some arcade games. And there is a dealer specific video game section, so it is permitted, even though that is not what I am.

I understand that people do this, but thats not the case here. I have like 70 games for sale that I don't use anymore, and he flags EVERYONE, like theres a guy trying to get 5k for his LOTR HUO and he is being flagged as well, you can look on multiple peoples CL posts talking about how they keep getting flagged yet no one is buying there item (if this was the case it would sell)

Around here, they flag pretty much anything from anyone that looks like competition. Its probably another vendor (I could speculate which ones, but ill refrain) trying to endure they dont have competition, or one of a few flag happy grumpy individuals who live in the area (ill also refrain from speculation there) who occasionally do lot buys ect.

Are you making one listing for all 70 games, or are you making 70 listings. That would be really annoying.

Make one listing for all your games and another for all your pins

It happens to everybody in the Detroit Craigslist. My guess would be Chuck Fitch, but who the hell knows. I have noticed the only way my ads stay up is when it's my first ad, or if I only post the same item up for sale like once a month. Seems like the more you post items the more the guy makes it a mission to flag your posts. Whoever it is will seem to leave an ad alone if it is a good deal as well, but those will always go on the first listing anyway, so no need to relist them usually.

I have had my ideas that it was either lance, jay, or brad, which I have dealt with all in the past. And all of them have no jobs or a job where they could be on the CPU all day, which is truly sad. Most of the operators I am friends with, I don't think vic or big toys is doing this. The only dealer it really could be would be Tony in roseville or games people play, but that seems kind of petty for a dealer to do this to EVERYONE. I would think it would get old after a day of being on CL ALLLLL day just to flag ads (especially when these vendors hardly ever sell their equipment, they are all really high priced. I know whoever is doing this has an iphone because there is an ap that you can set favorite "CL Words" such as "dart" "arcade" "pinball" and as soon as it is posted on CL they will notify you, this is exactly what is happening. I have had my ads flagged 1 minute after being "accepted and posted" as the ads don't list immediately after you post them.
