It'll be about a mile from my house, so I think I'll go try to sell my slots there. Just wondering if anyone else is planning to go.

I'm selling my 2 pachislo machines and a candy cab at the compton auction. saw some classics when I was dropping off my games including gorf, space invaders, an empty defender cab, and I think there was a couple pac-peoples. Saw some pinball machines including a muhammed ali and globetrotters. A few driving games were there, and a flight simulator of some sort. Only saw one cocktail, but there was still awhile for drop-offs. The auction location is a bit tricky to get to. Alameda is the intersection with the flashing lights.

Here's the address: 172 East Manville Street, Compton, CA 90220
go and buy my stuff :D... or at least bid it up more.

Smallest auction yet. Maybe 20-30 games tops and only 4-5 pins. It's pretty sad when LA can only produce these dinky little game auctions when the rest of the country appears to still have pretty decent, well stocked auctions. I am wondering what this is saying about the hobby here in Los Angeles?

It says that the cosigners aren't willing to let their games go for almost nothing. Maybe the vendors and operators elsewhere need to get more quick cash, or maybe the california ones already sold their inventories. I counted around 65 lots total (of which, 3 were mine). Ended up getting a good amount for my slots, but my game started spazzing out right when I powered it up, so I lost at least 200 on it (I put all new innards into it apart from a used monitor... 23" monitors aren't exactly easy to come by):(

That being said, the landing high japan was kinda cool.

Capt Chris' auctions are not bad. They seem to be better than Superauctions, at least in So Cal. The games are pretty clean, and the ones that are working are powered up for most of the preview.

Where can I find out when the next capt chris auction is? Google-ing isn't working all that well.

That's the point of an auction. "Item most go, for what bidders are willing to pay" If you want a certain amount, put it on Ebay w/ a reserve or sell it on Craigslist. You're just wasting everyone's time by bringing stuff to an auction to fake-bid it up.

The best Super Auctions were when they had a shit-ton of games from some old Amusement Park warehouse or whatnot....where it was truly a "THIS STUFF HAS TO GO!" situation. No vested interest there fake-bidding the games up. That's when auctions were FUN. Soooo much stuff there that anyone there could get an awesome bargain and go home happy w/ some games. The auctions in the past year or so have been really pathetic.....but, I still show up, hoping that MAYBE one will have one of those "gotta go" stashes.

You can set reserves at the auctions as well (though I rarely see items sell that have reserves). As for the bidding up, there really isn't much incentive for an operator to sell a game that they could sell for more easily. It only costs them $16 to buy back a game no matter how much it gets up to. I was thinking to myself while at the auction, that I would buy back my slots if they didn't get up to $50 each, and the game if it didn't go up to $100, but they did, so I didn't try to press my luck (mostly, I was just tired of looking at those things in my house). I can't say about the auctions in the past year aside from the one yesterday, but the last auction I went to before that was around 3 years ago. The ops still did the same things (hell, I recognized a few of them from 3 years ago at the compton auction). But, then again, I did get 4 cabs for a dollar with a couple working boards inside 3 years ago.

I was there for a few minutes and ended up leaving. But I am curious if anyone saw how much that Neo Geo 4 slot MVS cabinet went for?

It went for around $375. I bid on it up to $150. Damn, it was clean!

It didn't have side-art, only had 2 of the not so good games in it, and I didn't see a card reader or credit lights. Also, if I remember right, the screen was pretty faded looking. Would probably require a cap kit. I don't think that it was an actual big red, but can't really remember since it didn't catch my eye enough to warrant a thorough investigation.

Yeah I saw some discoloration on the side of the screens when it was in demo mode for KOF2K3 and Metal Slug. And I noticed it didn't have a card reader either. Was semi bummed and wanted to see what it would go for. I'm a little surprised.

I liked last months auction in Anaheim and hope in July it's a lot more of the same.
