I checked youtube but did not see any new trailer out there. Word was that it would be prior to Alice in Wonderland this weekend. Anyone see it yet?

Because the first Tron was such a box office success...

Let's see how Hollywood and the computer special effects whores can ruin this one...

It DOES take place in a computer, does it not? True, the original looked like it was in a TRS-80, but I kinda expect the new one to look very computery.

Does anyone know if this may be a 3-D film?

Nifty.

....

And that about sums up this new 3D direction the industry is going. I'm personally not impressed with the new 3D technology. Movies don't have to be in 3D. Give us better stories, better characters and now and then poke us in th eye with a sharp stick with the 3D effect.

Must say that the 3D most of us experienced in the early 80s kicked ass over the buzz and whoopla of today's new generation 3D moviemaking.

Metalstorm 3D. One of the worst post apocolyptic films but at least they took full advantage of the 3D gimmick.

The new 3d blows the red/blue glasses era out of the water. I agree its not needed. Its very well done tho. That said I liked liked avatar in 2d best. 3d distracts a bit.

while the quality of the 3D effect is better than what we had in the 80's and earlier, the way they shoot the films does not utilize 3D the way it was in the past and should be. If you're not gonna have scenes where things intentionally look as if they are coming off of the screen out at the audience then there is little point to using the 3D effect. New films don't really utilize this which makes using 3D only a money making gimmik rather than a cool visual effect.

3D sucks. Period. Why? It's not 3D, it's an optical illusion. Like I really want to sit there for two hours wearing f'ing glasses on my face straining my eyes to see some cheap "jump in your face" effects. It's a gimmick that frankly, a movie like Tron 2 dosen't even need.

I saw it last night. It was the best part of Alice In Wonderland unfortunately. Trailer is really cool. Starts off with Alan telling Sam that he received a page from Flynn's arcade and that he promised to tell Sam if he heard anything from his dad. The weird thing is that the number has been disconnected for 20 years. Sam seems disinterested, seems like he thinks his father disserted him. He goes to the arcade anyway and finds a secret room behind the Tron machine. Voice over talks about how Flynn was working on something that was going to revolutionize the industry. Sam goes into the room and sits at a computer. You can see the digitizing laser in the background and it incenuates that he got digitized. Then we see shots of the computer world. A really awesome looking recognizer and random men and women. We see Clu coming up a platform with some red guards, Clu is still yellow. This is all in rapid succession. Also see the face shot of old Flynn again. Ends with Sam destroying another light cylce. I believe Flynn makes a comment about how we haven't seen nothing yet. Looks really good so far.

Speaking of this, don't see Alice In Wonderland in 3d, it is a waste of money. It was filmed in 2d with thrown object gimmicks added in in post production. It is almost distracting to see it in 3d, unlike Avatar. If you have to see it, see it in 2d and save a bunch of cash.

I can't really watch the 3d flicks. I've tried two and both gave me a headache and my eyes really strained the first 15-20 minutes of each flick. My brain/eyes just don't like it.

Really?? I found that the 3D movies of the 80's gave me headaches. I think the new version is much better and so does the American movie going public.

I don't know I liked it in Avatar. Add to that that fact that I really wanted to hate Avatar and ended up liking it I think the 3d was pretty cool. Tron in 3d will kick ass too.

Guys, can we get back on the trailer track pls? I've been eager to hear about the trailer and what people thought. Please make another thread on 3D if you want to keep talking about it.
