anyone familiar with totally restoring a banzai run?

hello
i just picked up a banzai run made by williams. i have restored/totally shopped out a few machines so far (lights camera action, playboy 78, domino, twister, and a few arcade games). i would like to start on this banzai run but i have heard it is a challenging game to work on/restore/maintain. does anyone have any advice/opinions/tips before i get in over my head? i have a few other machines i can restore before this one but i am itching to play it and really do a good job on it.

There is a little bit of a learning curve to getting the top/back open and then closed up right, if it don't feel right then it is probably is not setting down in like it should and it won't play.

Hard to get to some of the wiring in the back.

But a Great fun Game.

No more mechanically challenging than any other game really. Two fully playfields to rebuild/touchup etc. Just think of it as doing two games at once. I think it would be a fun project on a very unique game.

this old pinball

The guys at this old pinball did a DVD where clay restores one of these games.

im looking forward to going all over it.....cleanign and shining every single ramp, light, screwhead, everything. my cabinet is nice on mine i dont think i will need the sideart. i am thinking about taking some before and after pics on this one like i see the other members on here doing

Whenever you lean the upper playfield down, put the regular playfield glass on and lower the upper playfield down on a pillow so nothing gets crushed or scratched.

thanks for that last link. im going to use those photos for reference. i remeber playing one of these with my dad when i was very little (like 5 or 6 years old) and i thought i lost the ball and my dad said "look its in the back of the machine" and by the time i looked up i lost the ball that plays vertically. im gonna go all over this one and try to make it look like the ones in those pics. im gonna need the 2 speedometer stickers which i see you can get on ebay for $7. i see they sell the sideart but mine only has like 2 scratches on the whole game. thanks for the advice guys. im just finishing up restoring a domino and twister will be done tonite. im not sure whether to bring banzai run in for a all winter project or shop out this carribean cruise cocktail table

just by looking at the game.....i have a question. how do you get the ball into the top right area of the top playfield. i dont see any entry point for the ball to get into that section of the playfield. but i see a kicker up there that looks like there might always be a ball that stays up there?? im talking about the part with all the targets on the top right of the top playfield?
