Anyone ever win enough tickets for a console at redemption 'arcades?'

Tonight should be fun, I have an evening planned with my fiance at my local Dave and Buster's. I was wondering if anyone has managed to save up the hundred thousand or so tickets to purchase a PS3, Xbox360, 3ds, PSP, or Vita game system at these redemption arcade places?

I have a strong feeling the managers of the stores buy them for their kids and put the empty system boxes up there to provide an impossible goal for the customers.

I think right now my wife and I have something like 20-30,000 tickets at Dave and Busters. We're both pretty good at the "stop the moving light between the neon poles" games. We only go when it's half price games, and any time they send out a email for a "get x free tickets when you turn in 1000 or more" we print it out and go, sometimes combining the two.

It isn't impossible. It will just cost you more money than a decent used car.

Tell that to the asian guys owning the CRAP out of the jump rope Namco game every time we're there. They have it down to a VERY precise art, and it isn't easy. Those guys are pouring sweat by the time we leave, and have piles and piles of tickets on the floor. IN-SANE. I was impressed the first time I saw it. Even more impressed when everyone in their group was doing it, and now I'm just sick of it because I'm fat and I can't do it. :p

If the game you're talking about is "Cyclone" I know it well.

Last time I played it I actually started to get a small crowd gathered around me, because I had one of those nights where everything just came together that I hit the jackpot eight times in a row.

It got so bad that one of the game referees came over to see if I was somehow cheating.

After that I moved on to ColorRama and hit that jackpot (the smallest zone) three times in a row.

I left there with a GBA SP, just because I was there with friends and we were going other places afterwards and I didn't really want to lug a bunch of tickets around.

I'm not THAT good, but I've had 2 or 3 consecutive a few times. Our strategy is to let the schmoes who have no chance of winning because they're not really TRYING run up the jackpots, then we swoop in when they max out at 300 tickets. ;)

Cool stories! That was a quick night for me, my voucher didn't work but we waited out the traffic and found a bunch of free games just sitting around: Galaga, Centipede, Mario Bros, Qix, Airline Pilots, and some terrible motorcycle racing game (one track ended up finishing in the air, with a huge finish banner and my cycle hanging there).

Not much changed since the last time I went and I played everything I was wanting to play. They still did not have much game selection beyond light gun shooters and redemptions. Still had a good night, it all worked out. Next time I go I'll use the voucher for nothing but redemptions to maybe add a trinket to my collection of D&B stuff. Letter opener, back scratcher, pen, shot glass, light up pen, and desk hook.

I love Airline Pilots. And I also love Tokyo Wars, but they took that away. :(

If I had enough space I would have a multi-screen Airline Pilots, and 4 player linked Tokyo Wars.
