Wondering if any one ever used either of these to transport a game. I get great rates with my company through them, but didn't know how they did with Arcades?

I saw a post once with a cocktail game where the forklift caught the corner and shattered the glass and damaged the wood when they shipped it UPS. I cant remember if packing had anything to do with it, but it sorta turned me off on UPS.

We have shipped pinballs through UPS freight before. UPS actually contracts the shipping through other companies. None of our shipments were damaged, but we actually know how to pack properly.

The cocktail mentioned above was NOT packed properly - the pallet was barely bigger than the base, not much padding on the sides, and no padding over the glass top.

If you pack ANYTHING well, it shouldn't matter who ships it, as long as it gets there...

I know you have said this in other posts about my cocktail. The truth is im still pretty upset about it, even more now that more info has come to light. The machine still sits in the corner, has not been fixed. I had not really pushed the packaging issue on this item because it was shipped by a fellow Klover. UPS after months in the claims Department finally paid my Claim. They paid $30, 30 cents a pound.
I had a lawyer look into all of this, and I just got a answer from him not to long ago. Seems the seller did not insure the item as he stated. Using his shipper he set up this whole thing. If you dont buy insurance your item is only covered for 10 cents a pound. This is stated on the bill of lading given to the seller when he dropped of the item at UPS. Which I would have been happy pay, if the seller had set it up right. I was responsible for all shipping costs anyway, would not have costed the seller a penny:eek: and I would not have a $500 busted up cocktail in the corner.

Personally I would never ship anything thru UPS Freight again. But if you do make sure the seller packages your item good, and proper insurance is purchased.

Be wary of R&L. I had a year long battle with them over a game shipment. Basically, some dock foreman decided to reclass my shipment midway on its journey, and they tried to bill me over double what they quoted me. We eventially settled, but I still paid more than the quote, which sucked.

Arcade games should be in the 125 weight class. The foreman changed my class to 250. They said nothing of this change and just sent an adjusted invoice. I'll not use them again.

Of course, YMMV.

If it were me I'd ask the seller to pony up the money for the repairs and if they didn't I put the name publicly. that's bull shit and I'd be livid pissed. I insure EVERYTHING I ship for 3 times the actual value just because I make money if someone else F's up.

In the beginning the seller seemed concerned and said he would talk to his Shipping Broker and see what he could do. He told me he ships 100's of arcades a year with UPS freight. Seems his broker could not help. The seller has arcades on Ebay and advertises his shipping. but does not mention that he does not insure the shipment. If you send that many machines, you would think they should be aware of what the bill of ladin states, 30 cents a pound. If not the Shipping Broker should mention it??

In the beginning he told me to file a claim. I spent alot of time getting good closeups and estimates for repair. Only to recieve a $30 settlement because it was not insured. When I discovered that it was not insured properly. I Pmed the seller here on KLOV and asked him straight up. "was this Item Insured" Pm went unanswered. What do you do, You win some you loose some. I buy alot from people here, and most of it is great.

Not trying to derail the original post. I have talked about the cocktail in other posts. and the only reason In responded here is 3 or 4 times in the past modessitt has dumped on this packing job, not realizing he was talking about a fellow klover, Well this still eats me everytime I look at it smashed up in the corner. So yes I agree modessitt. This pack job is horrible, and even worse from someone who claims to ship 100's of arcades every year.

I will prob never ship a game again, and will not ever use UPS Freight ever again!!! If by slim chance I do ship a game it will be NAVL.

Out of the 10 games that shippers have damaged and most unfix-able and remember we use 10 different shippers R&L has damaged all 10 games. It is to the point we will not use them anymore. Last game the trashed was a 05 Golden Tee and they ended up sending our customer a check for 36.00. We ended up paying to bring it back to us and fix it and send it back to our customer. If you do not buy the extra insurance R&l will only pay 30 cents on the pound. They make it very hard to collect on the insurance even when you have bought the extra insurance. AVOID R&L AT ALL COST IF YOU WANT YOUR GAME TO GET TO YOU IN INTACT. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED

It's unfortunate a fellow KLOVer would not own up to not insuring the game... especially if he'd shipped "a hundred" games in the past... which makes it sound like he's likely not just some collector. That sucks bigtime DJW... and may that seller invoke negative arcade karma x 1000...

What game was that again? Food Fight if I remember right?

EDIT: How could I mistake he CPO markings... Satans Hollow... Grrr...
