Anyone ever use Meanwell Switchers

Looks pretty decent, stout, uses good caps, temp stats look great, 3 year warranty pretty decent on a supply.

Yup... I put one one in my APB, not that exact one... I only needed +5V @ 13A Meanwell had a 16A model that fit the bill perfectly. Quite a bit more expensive than your typical video game switcher but probably a better product.

Not sure if its the same or not but that looks exactly like some ones I had in a box. 2 out of 3 were duds. May be just using the same cage though.

I have used several Meanwell's over the years. They do not hold up in arcade machine use. They have failed in just a few months of use.

Yes, I even had a few bad out of the box.

You still can't beat the good old reliable Peter Chou power supplies IMO.

I have to agree with Ken.
Albeit most of the ones I used were in newer slot machines and such, some with different voltages and whatnot, but same general results, they just didn't hold up. Some even died in just a day or two.

Under $20 and they never seem to fail.
Have yet to have one come back dead.

BUY AMERICAN!

The PowerTec line is owned and manufactured by
Emerson Network Power, an American company.

Thanks for the Info guys. Thought I would ask before digging any further. Looking for something for the bench. But I don't want to be having to send it back every other week :)

Sorry to dig up a year old thread, but doing more researching (as a follow up to the question I had last week on what's the best ~$20 power supply) after TQ stated they no longer have the Happ PowerPro and switched to MeanWell, so I dug up this old thread with very conflicting information..

This is simply a relabeled Mean Well MWP-606 (you can see the sticker on the side). In addition, it appears the 606 used to be 4A rated and now is only 2A rated.

This is the same one that LizardLick and TwistedQuarter now sell.

So here the feedback was MeanWell fail quickly but PowerTec is good, yet the picture shows that PT=MW at least on this supply?
