Anyone ever use Bob Roberts' MCR power rebuild kit?

This is the one:

A Spy Hunter restore is my next big project. I'm staying away from a switching power supply, as it seems like 80% of people who use them are just not happy with the results. I'm just looking for anyone who has rebuilt their power supply for some feedback. Satisfied with the kit?

I have mostly used it, twice!!

OK, what does that mean?? I recently had an acid damaged but working PS as well as a clean but not working board. I used the necessary parts from the kit in the clean up of the working board. Mainly the PCB mount connectors and a few other things. I needed some of the remaining parts to fix up the dead board. Using the caps in the kit and what I had on hand allowed me to cap both while I was working on them.

Your board dead?

A note about the connectors. A friend of mine shared this with me and it help a lot. Find a punch or something whose tip will fit in the hole in the end of the pins but is small enough to pass through the through hole. Put a little pressure on the pin from the component side and heat the solder side. It won't take a lot. When the solder heats up the pin will easily push through. Once all the pins are out the housing falls off. Clean out the holes then replace. Acid damages solder takes a bit more heat. Be careful not to lift a trace. Practice on the cleaner pins. When you mount the new part make sure none of the pins moved before you solder.
