I got a call from someone wanting to get rid of 3 games. Went to look at them. All really beat up ugly conversions. Golden Ax, not working, Altered Beast, picture on screen, but no sound and couldn't coin up to see if it was working. Toki working. If I got them, they'd all be immediate part outs. The owner wasn't there, someone else let me in, so I won't talk to him again until tonight. I know he isn't looking for much, but even if he says take them for free to get them out of here, I will likely turn him down, even though I do have the space for a day until I could part them out.

That would be the first time I ever turned down a fully working game. Got me thinking, any of you ever turned down a free fully working game? If so, what were the details?

Never turn down free stuff. Parts is parts. I've picked up really ratty, damaged games for free/cheap just for their monitors. Like that ugly, waterlogged, mildewy converted Dig Dug. Painted black,no marquee, but hey, for twenty bucks it netted a rebuildable monitor and a working switchmode power supply. If you have the means to move them and a way to dispose of the carcasses, go for it.

I wouldn't turn down a free cab unless it posed a biological hazard. There's always parts you can pull from them. Wiring harnesses, coin doors, coin mechs, molex connectors, monitor, marquee. You never know what you or someone else might need in the future.

I turned down a free working two player confidential mission once at the end of a super auction. It was the big ass deluxe cabinet version. The thing was like 6 ft long, 5 ft wide and 5 ft tall. I had no room in my u haul for it. This is a pictures of what it looked like. The game worked but the cabinet was in pretty shitty condition. I would of taken it if I had the room but I had picked up 22 machines that day and wasnt going to make the 25 mile trip back just to pick up that machine.
