Anyone Ever Tried to Reprogram the 60-in-1 Boards?

With so many complaints about the sound problems on these, how hard would it be to just reprogram one with the updated sound files? They're just running MAME, and a crappy early version at that. What say you programmer types?

And then redesign the board to allow stereo output - which would be required for Gyruss at least?

Assuming it was possible, couldn't it just use the same speaker for both? Yeah, you wouldn't get the stereo effect, but at least it wouldn't be all distorted ;)
 
i wish someone would hack it, there's better games to put on there than some of the shit ones.. like van van car, the karate crap, digdug2 sucks etc etc.

It's not as simple as just adding new sound files, unfortunately. The sound hardware is emulated so it would be a matter of re-writing the emulation code. That would be FAR from a trivial task.
