I'm curious if anyone has ever shipped a game using this site and, if so, how they listed it for bid and what kind of price and service they got. Thanks.

Wasn't there a big thread on them a year or longer about them? If it is same company.. it wasn't good.

you choose USHIP, then <strike>they sell your contract to the lowest bidder.<\strike> -whoops, i was way off. you choose your shipper based on feedback.

that lowest cost shipper, may suck ass, and you might never see your game.

Thats not really how it works. You put up a shipping request and different people bid on it. YOU pick the shipper you want to use and get to look at their feedback as well as what the specialize in. So if you're a cheap ass you pick the lowest bidder or you can pick the most qualified. It is all up to the user.

There have been a couple of threads on this. It usually comes down to NAVL. Most of the other companies either require you to palletize and/or crate the machine (a good idea in any case) or you need liftgate service. All of which add $ignificant $$ to the co$t.

Personally, I have not tried shipping anything bigger than a pachinko machine, so do your research. If I wanted it bad enough, I would rent a pickup truck and go get it. $50-$100 per day + gas. The difference in price for shipping would be offset by piece of mind in knowing where it is and the condition it is in.

I used uship 2 years ago, but my guy build me a bomb proof crate for my game.
so I had no issues.

based on what I have heard around here, I would NOT use them again.

I used them...had a great experience

I used Rich, whom gave me a bid through uship.com

Rich was very professional. He picked up a Dragon's Lair 2 machine in Detroit and delivered it to me in California. Great communication and he had very good feedback from previous people who had used him.

The only thing with uship is you pay them a fee to use the service. Its based on the price that is bid for the shipment. Rich was really inexpensive. NAVL wanted almost $600 to ship the machine and the wanted it palletized. This wasn't possible since the seller could not put it on a pallet.

Rich charged me $265. He fully wrapped the machine with cardboard, then blanket wrapped that, then strapped it down to the inside of the moving truck. It got here without any problems and he included insurance on the item up to $700 included in the quote price. The down side was uship charged me an extra $10 for using their service which you have to pay for in advance before contact information can be exchanged between you and the shipper of your choice from the bids you received.

The only issue is HOW fast you want to get your item. Rich travels all over the US and Canada. It took me two weeks to get my machine. But he picked it up and delivered it on the dates he promised in his original uship bid. And he takes COD without requiring any percent down ahead of time.

I am not sure of any experience with other shippers using uship. But that was my experience. And I would use Rich again in a heartbeat.

I believe he can be reached at [email protected] if you don't want to contact him through uship

Good Luck!

Thanks for the posts--much appreciated--especially Jess. I may try Rich directly, given your good experience. I'd much rather wait a bit longer and have a game arrive in good shape.

Yes I too had no problem with shipping via Uship. I did have a problem with the seller. I think it cost me $400 bucks or so to get the machine from NY to AZ.

A klover had a machine picked up by a ushipper at my house and delivered to the midwest... The shipper was very friendly and got it to him in one piece.

Uship.com is actually a pretty cool deal! Its not like stated above that they ship with the lowest price... its all up to you and who you choose. You pick the price, you pick the way it ships, you pick trailer/truck/pallet/etc... Its just like ebay but for shipping quotes. I was going to start using them on some of my roadtrips, probably will this year in fact at least for the way down to CA.

The gal who picked up the cabinet at my house thought it was a great sight and had been using it for quite a while. She transported animals for people and was telling me that it more than paid for her entire move back East to throw some stuff in their truck/trailer on the way to the other side of the country.

Personally I wouldn't hesitate using uship with a person with good feedback. The couple of people I know who have done it all had good things to say AND saved a shitload of money!!

:)

U ship rocks if you find the right shipper

Like ebay LOOK at the feedback

I had one local guy who shipped a ton but destroyed several motercycles
(my poor wooden boxes would never make it with him )

So I went with a higher shipper from michicgan
He got 2 of my starwars cockpits for me 2 robotrons and my sinistar
all safe from texas to chicago $565

The second guy i use Got one of my edots from CT to chicago safe and sound and not a scratch cost on that one $325 Door to door

If you build a good releationship with a good shipper he will cut you a deal
(just remember the cost of gas these smaller guys dont make a ton)
and dont klov price them and you will get better deals with the right shipper
