I got in an Exidy Bandido in pretty much original shape. The sides looked like this, I thought it was wood beginning to show through white paint:

Its not wood though. That's a woodgrain pattern embossed on white vinyl. Its not actual woodgrain telegraphing through the vinyl, it's made that way.

Looks like this after simple green, magic eraser, and hours of digging dirt out of the crevices with a dulled exacto knife:

This has got to be the dumbest product I've ever heard of. Cant see the pattern until it gets filthy. Why did they bother?

My Pepper II cab had the same vinyl. Couldn't find anything to match so I laminated the sides with matte white

Yep, got the same stuff on Tail Gunner 2. Exidy 2.

And I had the same problem - someone instead of figuring out how to clean it (Fantastic, Formula 409, Murphy's Oil Soap, etc) decided to rattle can it. WTH?

I'd love to find the hoard of their business documents like was found from Atari. That would be a treasure trove of decisions if they documented stuff.

Probably just a matter of getting it cheap because it was made with surplus vinyl using a tool meant to make colored woodgrain vinyl. You know… stuff no one else would want or have a use for. Kindof like that glittery green woodgain formica.
