Anyone ever seen a dedicated Phozon?

Phozon was indeed Japan only and was a kit-only (or, at least, it was only available in Namco's generic cocktail cab, I'm not sure if it was JUST a kit or if they did some full sales with the kit already installed) game. Even in Namco Museum Vol. 3 where you can look at the cab it's just a generic Japanese Namco cocktail with the kit installed. A lot of games after 82-83 or so in Japan were released as kit only due to the popularity of candy cabs the generic cocktail cabs they sold (just swap the art and you're good to go!). I've seen a couple of boards pop up on Yahoo! Japan Auctions, if you're after a kit I'd keep an eye out. Phozon is an awesome game, it's sad how underrated it is, even in Japan...

Yes I would like one. What I would really like is if the klov entries for games would have the japanese version of the cabinet too. O have no idea when japan went 100% candy, I always wonder "did this game have a dedicated cabinet in japan?"

I'm not sure either, but I know a LOT of Druaga PCBs ended up in candies... that would be interesting to know for sure. The Japanese Dig Dug cab is also quite a sight, haha. I love their Galaxian though. To have a dedicated Japanese Namco cab is a dream of mine, but it's basically impossible... there is hardly any arcade game trading going on in Japan aside from the boards themselves and newer games =(

But yeah, I would check Yahoo! Auctions Japan for Phozon. "フォゾン" is the term to search for (Phozon in Japanese). No PCB up right now but it'd be good to keep checking!

dusting off yet another old thread. I was looking for photon in mame and played phozon instead. Yeah, it's pretty creative and pretty cool. :) So may weird games out there to still discover even after decades of playing video games :)
