I dug into it last night. I changed all the caps on the
main board. The first 3 I pulled were way, way bad. A
bunch were "ok, but I don't think they'll stay ok for long".
Surprisingly all of the high voltage caps were good.
The board has some weird hacks. I don't know if it's original
or a repair. There are two 100uf@200v caps, one in the
holes of the board and a second glued to the side of the first
and jumpered to a coil and jumper on the board so the 100uf
is now 200uf.
I didn't get to the neck board yet. Since I didn't have a schematic and
never saw one of these I took my time.
I will finish the neck board this week as well as test a few suspect power
resistors and probably try the chassis on Saturday.
I will post my results.

Did you turn up the screen pot when It was hooked up.
was it all the way up and still not bright?
I would suspect the caps.
remove old ones copy the location and values.
post the caps and location.
and we can build a cap kit for your chassis.
What have you found out so far?
