I was testing super pac and the monitor blew its fuse as soon as I plugged it in. I don't think I have ever seen this monitor before.. Says zenith on the neckboard..

I would nrmally just say toss it, but the tube is low screen burn. I was going to call P&L to see if they work on it..

A /lot/ of these seemt to be cropping up lately. I've got one. It's got some funky connectors on it, and not a lot of info available. I hooked it to my test bench and promptly fried it. What I thought was the negative sync connector turned out to be outputting 30V!

I'd salvage the tube and shitcan the rest.

The tubes are solid. The rest is sh*t. They're a standard, and rather robust tube IMO. I did a few tube swaps with them and have been happy with the results. Google for some info on them. I think zenith made the tubes for WG for awhile.

I think they're worth saving. I recently recapped one in a Burgertime, and it turned out quite well. Yes, there's a bit more time in this due to the extra boards, but all of the connectors and plugs are marked so it's not that difficult.

It's a beast to recap, but it does put out an ok picture.

You could put on a Wei-ya replacement chassis instead if you wanted to go that route.

thanks for the replies. I agree the replacment chassis might be the better choice. I think this one might need more than a recap. When I plugged it in, I heard a pop and then I saw a flash of light...

Never bought a Wei-ya replacement chassis. Do you have to match a model to the yoke? Once you switch, do you have to adjust the magnetic rings? Where is a the best place to get the chassis?

You need:

Number of the picture tube from it's label.

Resistance readings of the vertical and horizontal yoke windings. Here's how to do it:

If the yoke resistance specs of your existing tube are close enough to what the Wei-ya chassis calls for, then you use the existing yoke on your tube. You don't have to touch the yoke or the rings.

Alva Amusement, 8liners.com and Billabs all sell Wei-ya replacement chassis. Alva has the best selection and prices. The prices are no longer shown on their website so you have to telephone them for a quote.

Once we know your basic tube and yoke specs we can suggest the appropriate Wei-ya model to order. Also, does your Zenith monitor use an isolation transformer in the cabinet? I think it does, but will need you to confirm it.

Then once your chassis arrives, you'll need to "Americanize" it:
