I have this cab that was converted to a altered beast and I wanna give it some love and mame it just for vs games. Has anyone ever done anything like this? I got everything I would pretty much need for it besides a decoder. I got a nice spare vs control panel I could throw on it also. Does this seem like a good idea?

I considered it.... but because it was already a VS cab I decided against it and just sold it.

That would be a prime candidate to do so.. You could also stick Popeye and Mario Bros in it and keep the Nintendo "theme"...

That looks like an R-type cabinet. Very cool.

I am restoring my Vs. Nintendo cabinet back into a Donkey Kong cabinet as we speak. (It was originally a Donkey Kong...) It will become either a multiple Donkey Kong MAME machine or a multigame. I can convert back to the original later if I want to.

I am also cloning the cabinet to make several more for a 'Nintendo row'. One machine for NES games, one for SNES games and another for Nintendo 64 games. Depending upon the time involved, I may initially make the first one play all three Nintendo system games and then make more later. It never hurts to aim high. :)

I say go for it!

Maybe keep the nintendo theme and add other games because would be nice to play final fight, rtype, rtype 2, double dragon, ect, ect. i wont be hacking the vs control panel so any horizontal game with 2 buttons per player might end up on this machine

+1 for turning it back into an R-Type.You don't see those too often and it's a cool game as well.

I would like to turn it back or just use mame for rtype 1, and 2 and thats it ,but i cant easly find marquees or cpo, or side art, looks like they dont make any reproductions

I once thought about buying a stripped out Nintendo cab with a Vs. CP for the sole purpose of putting an NES in it. I still think about it sometimes.
