I need the black bezel that goes around the monitor, but behind the black glass, on my Tempest. I have some black card stock at the house, but it's about 1/8" thick. Would that work?

The instructions don't seem very clear to me at the link (maybe my coffee has worn off), but I will look it over a few more times. It took me reading it at least twice to realize that posterboard is what was used (they mention it in the last frame lol).

Thanks for the help though!

I never really read it through, I just bookmarked the link for future use.

I made mine out of Black/Black core mat board. Kinda pricey at Hobby Lobby. The old one was water damaged, so I ironed it out best I could and traced the pattern. Cut, Glued and good to go.

If you need patterns, I can trace them out on paper and mail them to you.

Thanks Talon, I appreciate the offer. I just wanted to understand if it was something that 'could' be done by one's self, and if so what thickness of paper/stock we were talking about.

I have seen monitor bezels for other games, but since Tempest is so unique in so many ways (cab shape, monitor, etc), I wanted to find out what the story was re: the missing bezel.

If I recall correctly, the only problem I had with the slightly thicker mat board was having to thin the folded flap just a bit. But it's thickness is about 3/32" I'm sure you could do some trimming on the 1/8" stuff to get it to work.

I had similar problems reading through it. A lot of stuff that should have been explained clearly were assumed to be understood. It should have been written for someone who has never done a damn thing like that. I was surprised it didn't show a fully assembled and completed bezel at the end, to show exactly how it would look...

I remember years ago when he posted his bezel picture over on the byoac forums. Then about 40 people wanted him to make a walkthrough so they could make one. I think there was quite a lengthy thread about it over there, but that was years ago, so I am surprised I remembered where it came from. I think he just made the pdf fast for the people that were watching that thread, not an immortalized pdf for all future kin to learn from. Even though I thought it is quite useful, and I have always liked making crap like that out of paper.
