I'm looking to bring 2-3 project cabs to an autobody shop and have them painted. I'll do all of the prep work, but I'm looking for a general idea on the cost per cab. Next year I might invest in a gun and a compressor but mid October in New England might not be the time to paint in your driveway.

I would say you might wanna ask before you bring them in, I know a lot of body shops here wont paint anything unless they do the prep work.

I used to work in a autobody shop.
We did do (sand, spray filler, sanddown filler and spraypaint) a kitchen from time to time.

If they now what they are doing and close all the pores(open pores on wood suck up paint) well with a good filler then the end result should be really good.

But please trust me that with a nice foam roller and a few layers of good paint, some fine sanding and buffing you can maybe get even better results

Always have an autobody place do metal.

You can always rent a Gun and compressor also.

The economy can't be that bad I just fielded two calls from two autobody shops and got noped. I may have to go with the Return of the Jedi earn while you learn approach.

Don't forget the KY, cause if they are like any body shops I used to work at, itll cost, and its money up front. I roller painted my cabs at my apartment on the back porch with excellent results.

I think his point was that it is cold and he can't paint outside, hence the reason for asking about an indoor option. I feel your pain. We had a crappy summer and barely any autumn..snow on the horizon. I didn't get any cabs painted!

Aren't you in CT?? If you are call my husband... he is an auto body guy... owns a shop in Westbrook if that is not too far... he does great work!:)
