Anyone else think Millipede is overly chaotic?

Holy flippin cow! There is more sh*t thrown at you in that game than when a monkey eats too many bananas.. lol

I have been playing it latley.. It does get pretty extreme.
What score you been getting to?

It gets even worse higher up.

I just hit 67,000 and now there are 2 spiders at once, etc....

Nice; I have yet to break 60,000. I have cheated though and took the "advance" deal and the saw two spiders; didn't last very long.. lol

When those mushrooms turn, there is virtually no chance of shooting the scorpion, then I am SOL..

I have a Millipede board (thanx Bit Slicer) with the Multipede kit in my Centipede cab; Love it really.

I been playing in Mame. Sucks playing with the arrow keys.
Just configured it for mouse, but the control is still questionable.

Hope to have a Milly machine soon. So you prefer centipede then?

Wow, good job playing it in mame!
Na, don't prefer Centipede, just easier to find that cab. Plus it is good to have both available, IMO. Be nice to have Missile Command too, though..

I love my Millipede... I didn't pay anything for it because the cabinets end was busted. Nothing bondo can't fix... I even pimped it out with a emerald green translucent track ball with lighting below..

Millipede is one of my favorites. Always thought Centipede was like living in Arkansas. But Millipede is one game that holds my attention. I gotta get me another one some day.

I love millipede, I used to play it to death on the atari 8bit computers, and have never played an actual machine with a trackball, but I am pretty good in mame as well with my ps2 controller. I have always wanted a nice millipede if anyone has one for sale in MI.

You guys will be happy to know, then, that you will eventually reach a stage, at approximately 180K, that begins with more than a dozen spiders streaming out both sides at once. You have about six seconds to kill them all before another dozen stream out both sides. If you die, this level starts again, with spiders streaming out both sides. The only way to progress is to kill all of the spiders without dying. This is easier to do if you do it before the millipede reaches the bottom of the screen.

Yes, it will make you want to kill yourself. But there is a method to the madness. You just need to get really fast and accurate with your movements and shots, and understand both the spiders' movements and where the temporary safe spots are.

My high is 223K on one credit starting from the beginning.

That's when it gets fun!

The attract screen for Millipede with all of the enemies doing their thing in their little boxes is, IMHO, the *best* attract screen in classic arcade gaming.

When I was a kid, Millipede was at several local haunts (restaurants, barts), and the volume was always low, so I remember the visuals the best...and that screen became very familiar.

Wow. I read about that. Sounds extreme. I still can't really figure out the spider's next move....

Hopefully I'll get better on a machine with an actual trakball.

That score is nice nice nice..

Picked a dedicated machine up about 3 months ago and love it. So far my high score is 131K. The trackball is a huge factor for me. I have played it on my 60-in-1 with a joystick and it sux.

In the arcade I used to go to, this was the loudest machine. I could hear the sound when you are awarded the extra man across the arcade.

I have had a Millipede UR which I have made a Multipede. I usually played Centipede only, but lately I have started playing more Milklipede and I am liking it much better. It is way more intense, but also more fun. I am at around 79K right now, but I'm going to be playing way more.

Millipede is fun... but yeah, it gets absolutely nuts. What is great is playing a dozen games of Millipede and then going over to Centipede. Suddenly Centipede... which seemed so freakin' hard before... seems SOOOO much easier.

I love both pedes. My memories and heart will always lie with Centipede, but I think Millipede is much more intense and exciting. I would love to find an upright Millipede someday, but for now, the cocktail is what I have, and what my sister loves:

I like the Centipede artwork, but the Millipede gameplay better. So I've got the mac-daddy multipede with the to-Centipede adapter. :D Yeah going from Millipede to Centipede is like trading your Island Fish Company grouper for a Red Lobster daily special.
