Anyone else noticing an increase in ebay deadbeats?

[RANT ON]

Ever since ebay changed the rules so that you can't give negative feedback to bidders, I have experienced an annoying increase in deadbeats. There is no consequences if someone bids on an item and decides not to pay, but the seller can often experience a financial loss of $50 or more for fees such as a gallery listing and assorted other non-refundable fees.

I had an auction running for a game with many bidders, lots of watchers, and 4 or 5 folks who had emailed me for shipping quotes. Then a couple days before the auction was to close, a lady from Michelle Garland from Dearborn Heights, MI, (100% feedback rating of 129) hit the Buy It Now. After several days of hearing nothing with repeated attempts to contact her, I finally get an email saying: "CAN U CHECK, MY HIGH BID WAS S999.99". I responded asking if she hit the BIN by mistake, but she hasn't replied.

It just doesn't seem right that someone can cause financial loss with no personal risk to themsleves. I would love to get in on a class action loss suit against ebay for something like this. I am sure there are millions of people out there who would be happy to join in.

 If you open an unpaid item dispute (and win) ebay will refund all the fees provided you list exactly as per before (don't change the listing at all).

Sure it's a PITA but how are you out the money?

Nope. I just got off the phone with eBay. They will not refund your listing fee or the $20 Gallery Fee. Nor will they allow you to relist at no cost. Their argument is that they provided you with the service as outlined in the user agreement and are under no obligation to refund those fees.

So they allow any deadbeat to steal your money whenever they like.

Weak !

thats ebay.... slowly digging thier own grave.. at this point somebody or something just needs to kick them in and fill in the hole...

chuckwagon anyone????

Hell Yea Ebay makes where no one has to pay. Ever since they did the feedback thing it has gone to hell. My fee's run a couple of grand a month

They certainly don't. I would love to be part of a class action law suit. Even better, it would be great to see some legislation since they are a monopoly.

Probably can't prove they are a monopoly because some smaller auction sites do exist and from what i know Ebay hasnt really tried to take them out/buy them out.

Since auctions are a legal contract IMO, and this may be farfetched, but the US Justice Department should examine their policies and make changes where they seem fit. The feedback system for buyers is one that was very  . Why the F.... are sellers not allowed to leave negative feedback. Ebay provides a service, they dont dictate the sale or take responsibility for the sale in either way but yet their policies allow them to secretly do just that.

Oh well im an Ebay hater also but need them due to my business. Im slowly trying to get to the chuckwagon. I promote chuckwagon even though i dont regularly use them as of yet.

There are no more deadbeats than before...just all the good honest sellers are gone so the deadbeats are no longer minority. I used to sell alot on ebay, its been close to a year since I have listed anything. I still buy stuff there but dont sell since it costs a fortune just to list something.

List pricing has gone way down on the BUY IT NOW stuff however they rape you on the Final Value Fees though.

So a good general manager for ebay would hire a team of people to bid and not pay, to drive up fees, and most likely the seller will relist at some point.

what comes around goes around!

I appreciate you spreading the word of the Chuckwagon. And for mentioning "me" as "them" :) Funny.
