I've had Rick Fords NOS Pepper II art for several months with the intentions to reproduce it for my Pepper II project. Finally, last week within a couple of evenings I was able to get a large format scan of the art, knock out the raster fills, vector fills in illustrator and add the 600 DPI halftones (color matching the file). Sent it off to Rich Lint (ThisOldGame) and he sent this to his printer. Still need adjust the colors a little bit but this will be ready to run within the next few weeks (give or take a few weeks).

This will be solvent ink jetted on glossy vinyl in order to match the original finish (However, I would prefer more of a satin finish but lets keep it real).

Already received a couple of PM's saying they would like a set. Anyone else need a set? I will have Rich run a handful of sets and offer it on my site. Not sure pricing yet but it shouldn't be too bad.

Getting/building or restoring a PII is on my wants list as I already have a boardset, although I don't need artwork now, I'm glad to see there's at least some decent scans of it out there. Do you have one of the CPO too?

Quick summary... Seeing this was Rick Fords art (Roadrunner), I didn't want to send it out of state for a full one piece scan (He is pretty protective of his art). So, I took it to FedEx / Kinkos and used their plotter scanner. Unfortunately, the cut line caused the scanner to stop at this spot of the NOS art. So, I had them flip it. Seeing I only wanted the black line seeing it was most likely hand drawn I had it scanned in B&W @ 300DPI. Then after I put the solid vector fills (allowing good control of the colors using the color profiles from the ink jet) in illustrator. Then for the halftones accents on the sprites (pretty simple) I rescanned these in @ 600DPI, converted to B&W bitmap tiffs... By saving them this way (after retouching) it allows you to select a color fill in illustrator.

Looks pretty good in my opinion and this is a piece of art that would most likely never be reproduced.

As far as the CPO.... My Control Panel is in pretty nice shape. I have access to another panel (which appears to be NOS but applied at the factory). So, I haven't decided how to tackle this yet. Might see if someone local to me has a larger flatbed scanner or a wand scanner (to keep stitching to a minimum). Because it would be nice to offer both the CPO and the side art at the same time. Just remember, the CPO would most likely be reverse solvent ink jetted on texture vinyl as well.

I'm open to your thoughts on the CPO.

Thanks Mike.

I really am just trying to figure out if the is anyone who needs art now to determine how many sets I should run the first time around. No reason to stock 50 sets of ink jetted art.
