Loving my pin. Loving it! Only issue is that the balls keep getting these black smudges on them which leaves little black skid marks all over the playfield and up the lanes. I've cleaned up the balls a few times and it keeps happening. I thought maybe it was from the little pads at the end of the ramps so I put some plastic protectors over them. Haven't played enough to see if that fixes it. Anyone else seeing this? Can it be the rubbers or the flippers causing this substance to get on the balls? <insert clean your balls jokes here>

Lame. You'd think they would make the rubbers to be able to handle being in a pinball machine. Is it specifically black that is the problem?

I've noticed this one in the arcade too. Just a general "filthyness" on top of the clearcoat that seemed out of place in a pin that was only a month old...especially right near the flippers.

Yikes! Yeah it could be the spinning disc. Dies it actually spin or does it just appear to? Either way, it's a likely culprit. Anything to be done?

How many plays do you have on yours, Cowbell? I'm at roughly 150 total.....maybe it takes a while for this problem to show up? Or maybe my games just haven't been long enough...LOL.

I would say I have no more than 150 plays and it has shown up twice. The first time I thought maybe it was something on the balls when I put them in the machine. I cleaned them, put them back in and over the next 50 or so plays it happened again. I will say that I hit the disc a lot. Maybe I'll work on some other parts of my game and avoid the disc for 50 or so plays and see if it comes back.

I haven't seen it, at least not yet, I have less than 100 plays. Are the smudges greasy or hard? I'd look for grease or something in the trough, around the disc in the scoop and around the shooter. I've seen spots before on other games I've shopped after putting new rubber on them, that will slow down after a while, but I've never seen that really show up on the balls.

Kind of greasy but fairly easy to rub off of the balls and the playfield. But there are areas that I can't reach that are starting to look bad. Sucks. I'll check out the trough and the shooter lane.

I found another issue with mine, something you might want to check. I've read about this on someone elses machine as well. The shooter rod isn't lined up between the forks of the auto launch, it's rubbing on the right side. I'm getting wear on the rubber tip of the shooter rod and the black dust is falling into the cab under it. While it's not greasy it could be getting on the ball and be part of where the stuff is coming from. I tried adjusting mine yesterday, not enough slop in the screw holes to take up the difference. Going to mess with it more today, see what needs to be adjusted.

I opened it up and threw a clean ball into the spinning disc 8-10 times and it seems to be coming from that. I guess the rubber disc is too soft. I can't believe I'm the only one with this problem. Any ideas for a fix?

so you confirmed that yours is definitely coming from the disc?

I noticed this early on. It appears to come from the rubber on the disk. I clean and wax the game and the balls around every 50 plays.

I just got 3 tron LE's delivered. The shipping company did a number on the boxes. I hope there is no damage inside. I can't see any damage through the top or the holes in the side..

I know 1 cabinet has a dent in the side. Just enough to make a visible mark. Has anyone had a problem like that? Any ideas what stern will do about it. If thats all thats wrong with the cab, I would hope I would not have to ship it back..
