Anyone else have an arcade license plate?

Nope, no arcade plates. I'd rather spend my yearly ransom to the Illinois secretary of state for such a plate on a new overlay or something.

I was always under the assumption that it was a requirement to have your own plate in Illinois. Every time ive driven through there thats 99% what you see.

Well you guys won and here is my new plate.

Good stuff! ZAXX0N is still available for grabs in Michigan. I'm going to register/buy
it as soon as i get off my ass to do so.. Maybe someone with more motivation will beat me
to the punch... I guess we'll see...

Growing up in Cali, I always thought it was "normal" that the plate goes with the car (when dealing with standard plates, I do believe personalized plates go with the owner). Evidently that's not the case in many states, like Idaho, where the plate stays with the owner who moves it from car to car.

It might be fun to see what each state charges for said personalized plates too...

Idaho charges $25.00 "application fee" then $15.00 per year IN ADDITION to standard registration...

Considering our smog test is $10.00 every 2 years, that seems a bit high for the right to have "ZAXXON" on my vehicles ass-end.

What does your state charge?

Illinois vehicle registration/plate yearly renewal: $102.00

New plates $180.00 ISH

Title transfer $~75

prices could climb to even more ridiculous figures now that ol' fat jb pritzker is in office.

I shouldve moved to Wisconsin.

My NM Zaxxon plate was $18. My yearly registration is $68 for the 2017 Ram.

In Cali the registration was $545 for the 2017.

I keep forgetting just how much other states screw their citizens when it comes to this stuff.

The basic Idaho registration renewal fees are based on the age of your vehicle:

1 to 2 years old: $69.
3 to 6 years old: $57.
7 years old or older: $45.

So the vanity plate would be $15.00 per year more than the above... since I would be putting it on my 2000 Durango (arcade hauler) the cost would be $60/yr.

That puts things in perspective. Hmmm... maybe it IS time for an arcade related vanity plate... but I can do so much better than Zaxxon (though admittedly most would know Zaxxon right off the bat!).

states are screwing us for opting in for a vanity plate???

most of us have jobs where spending an extra $15/yr or $50 for that matter isn't even
worth the time to type about. it's chump change and only happens once a year. yawn.

You seem to have a problem following conversations accurately...

My comment was in reference to the comment in the post just prior that Cali charges $545 for registrations...

>facepalm<

yar! yer right - haha oh well, everything in cali is higher and different, that's why people
in cali make 500-800k/yr compared to the rest of us people who work with normal salaries...

that's why every paycheck, they can buy 3-4 $20k pinball games without blinking. and store
them inside their 5-10k sq ft mansions that are sold in the real estate market for millions. lol

$500-1000 license plate fee's are like 5-10 cents to them.

I WANT ALL THE THINGS CALI PEOPLE GET! :p

Um, no. It doesn't work that way.

You also have to remember that everyone gets their money somehow. In VA, plates are cheap (~$40/year), and the same no matter the type of vehicle... but then the local jurisdictions charge a personal property tax based on the value of the vehicle. Other states charge the plates based on the vehicle value, but don't have the separate tax.

DogP

Colorado and Wyoming, the plates stay with the owners. Colorado personalized (when I was there) was a $30 fee every year, the ONLY good thing about Wyoming is, it is $30 one time fee, till they change to a different plate, then you have to reapply if you want it again. The bad thing is WY is way more expensive, I use to be able to plate 4 or my vehicles in Colorado for less than one or two of my vehicles here. My newest vehicle is 19 years old and it is around $200 a year and they don't go down as they get older and they finally went from 4 spaces on the plate to 5, so I still cant get ZAXXON, if I wanted to that is.

Cali is funny in they (at least used to) offer a PERMANENT TRAILER tag...

One would thing a Permanent Trailer tag would be a one time deal.... nope... they send out a bill for a "FEE" for the permanent trailer tag every few years. Bastards actually sent me a bill here in Idaho 4 years after I moved out of Cali...

California has very expensive registration fees, they vary from year to weight, commercial to non. And the plates are between $50 initial to over $100+ and then around $40 and up annually to keep them. They do stay with the owner, unless the number 69 is in the custom plate. Then it has to be on a 1969 vehicle.

meh. Michigan has the highest auto insurance rates of all 50 states in the USA. we cope.

I can't speak on insurance rates, just that our dmv fees are relatively high, in comparison to some of my friends in surrounding states. Gas is a a little pricier as well. We cope, for the most part too. There's plenty of other problems here to worry about. Lol.

Just picked up this plate for my new truck.

EDIT: I decided to spice up the plate a bit. Matches my game and my coffee cup from Mylstar now :)
