My wife is spending the day with my in-laws. My best friend is out of town. My other good friend going to spend the weekend with his folks. My younger brother is on a trip.

I'll be heading to the show by myself. I know many of you are bringing family and friends. Just wondering if I'm the only loser going alone. Haha.

I'm still stoked to go to my first CAX! It's going to be awesome!

Hey Jess,
I am bringing my girlfriend, but I expect her to wander away from CAX fairly often. If it is available, maybe we can play a couple games of DK. A few of us are thinking of trying to ditch out for a little while to try to find somewhere to watch UFC also.

Paul

Sounds good Paul. Thanks for the invite. I really don't know what to expect. I'm just driving, parking, and wandering. I hope to try out Arm Wrestling and some other games that I've only seen pictures of. I'm so excited I wish it was Friday night right now. =)

I'm going with my buddy, My girlfriend will have nothing to do with CAX, she refuses to go. Yeah she sux! anyway, we'll be looking for extracurricular activities as well. :)

Does it get boring or there's a lot of downtime? Seems like everyone wants to find other stuff to do than play games. I guess if you're there all weekend, you have to find other stuff to do. I'm only there on Saturday.

Well, you know what they say : "Everything in moderation". I'm down for playing the games and pins all day but after awhile you just gotta take a breather and get some fresh air and a change of scenery. :)

Haha. For sure. I catch myself playing DK for like 2-3 hours. That's just one game. I think it may be sensory overload on Saturday. =)

I've went a number of years and have never played all the games at the event. There are plenty of games to keep a person busy the entire two days.

I'm going solo, although I know other collectors that will be there. Even in the past when I went with a friend we would go our separate ways and play whatever we wanted. Only occasionally crossing paths and eventually meeting up to grab lunch and or dinner.

Cool. Want to grab lunch? Haha.

What's good to eat around there? I'm guessing the food court, if they have one, sucks and is overpriced?

Honestly since the event is in a new place this year I have no idea what food is in the area. I would guess that the hotel might have a restaurant. The only time I ever went out that way when I lived in San Jose was to go to Great America.

I've only been to the Seattle show before, but that event was 3 days and it never got boring for me. Smaller show too. I wasn't there from open to close because I was there with family, but for the 3 days I was there for 24 hours total, including lunch/dinner breaks. To me, it was as much fun talking to klov people as it was playing games, so that's an extra that you might not have thought that much about. In my case though, I was also focused on keeping my little kids in check and having fun with them, so maybe it's different if you're by yourself.

Great America used to have a cool arcade back in the day. I don't know how it is now. I haven't been since it was called Paramount's Great America. Now it's California's Great America. Weird.

Actually, looking forward to this too, but I have only met one KLOV member in person so everyone else would be new to me. It would be cool to meet up and chat, but I don't know how to find any of you. Haha. Do KLOV members have like a secret tattoo on their chest?

Great America used to have a 4 arcades at one point. 2 were really good, 1 had some good games but was small and the last one was pretty weak. I think 3 are still arcades but they are all pretty weak these days. Mostly redemption machines that are very spread out. I believe the arcade near the grizzly/ drop zone area still has some video games but it is nothing like it used to be mid 80's to early 91 or so.

I put my KLOV nickname on my tag. There shouldn't be anyone else with a gregatron tag, At least I hope.

I don't think I will be bored at all, I just really want to watch the fight. I canceled a Vegas trip to watch it with friends in order to make it to CAX.

I have only met 3 people from here in person, but there are a bunch of the cali guys I am looking forward to meeting. I travel to Gustine a few times a year, so I will probably see some of you once in a while.

And I am old, I remember when it was Mariott's Great America. Went there every year when I was a kid for the 4th of July. Now that was a kick ass fireworks show!

On Saturday, I plan to spend a good portion of the day listening to the speakers. Specifically Steve Ritchie and Aaron Giles, but I would like to see quite a few others as well. Since I have a High Speed in the Dining room, and a MAME cab in the office, they seem like great choices.

Marriot used to own Great America? Whoa.

Well, feel free to say hi anyone. My badge will have my actual name and I'm the short 26-year old asian guy which, from the previous CAX photos I see on the website, are not common on the gameroom floor. Am I right? :)

This is my first time, but I assume you will be pretty easy to spot. Unless you are standing behind me. I'm a 6' 270lb middle aged white guy. Actually there will probably be quite a few people who fit that description. Hopefully only one wearing a name tag that says "Paul" though. :)

Brittania Arms in San Jose is the closest place showing the fights. Both of their locations are super small (one is Downtown SJ, and one is off of Blossom Hill) and will be freaking packed early. You might want to get there between 1-2 (or that's what both places said on the phone). I thought about doing this, but I figured it would kill the whole day (getting there at 1, and not leaving until after the fights are over around 10), so Im not worried about it. I'll watch the fights online on Sunday.

I'm paying $70 (for my wife and I) for CAX just for Saturday. No way am I leaving for an extended period of time :D
