Anyone else get the Friction e-mail from JAMMABOARDS?

I got it this morning, but I was too lazy to go look up the price. Thanks for saving me the trouble. I guess I'll wait and pick one up at an auction for $100 in a year or so. :D

Meh, just because the graphics are sharper doesn't mean this game is better than what's already out there. I'll pick my Maximum Force/ Area 51 combo board over this one any day of the week.

How much is the Terminator Salvation? The graphics on that game blow away Friction. Friction seems not much different graphics wise than HOTD.

I believe those are going for over $10K

I got this game about a month ago and put it into the monitor side of a Tsunami motion cabinet (39" VGA CRT). It doesn't have to be a JAMMA cabinet - pretty much anything with a tube works.

It started out the first few weeks in third place in earnings among my light-gun shooters (I have Terminator Salvation Deluxe(42" LCD), House of the Dead 4 Super Deluxe(62" DLP), Big Buck Safari (27") and CarnEvil), always coming in right behind HOTD4. This past week however it went into 2nd place and isn't too far behind Terminator. I think that's pretty good for a relatively unknown kit game competing against light-gun shooters both with name recognition and larger more attractive cabinets with something unique about the guns. Also Friction costs much less than all of the shooter I have minus CarnEvil.

It's also a fun game if you like destructive environments. Several people I have watched play it comment about how fun they think it is. Some have even commented on the gfx as it looks nice on my VGA screen and it has a solid 60 fps rate. I just wouldn't mind it if there was an option to shut of the screen flash as it's more noticeable in my dark room.

Here's a video I did playing it a few days back:

It should also be noted that this was an Indie arcade game - made by a small team as a first for their new game studio.

I know the feeling, there are several arcades I would love to visit out there but they are a ways off from where I normally travel. :)

I played this about a year and a half to two years ago when it was being tested in an arcade in the bay area. I'm not a big fan of new shooters but it's a good game. Not worth the price tag for a collector but when it runs its course in the arcades I will pick one up. IMO it's much better than area 51 and max force.

jammaboards has pissed me off to the point I didn't read it, I just deleted it. Game looks interesting. I LOVE some light gun games, others are just meh to me.

Maybe someday I'll pick one up if the price is right.

Don't know where you guys shop, but I am pretty sure that I have seen terminator salvations being sold brand new for under $7,000. This is pretty neat, and I like the fact that an "indie" developer made it, but the flying torsos and limbs just scream "mortal kombat" to me. If just that one aspect of the game was removed (with something more realistic), it would make the game seem a lot better in my personal opinion.

Perhaps now is the "prime time" for independent developers to create cost effective conversion kits for specific titles that sold very well, but have lost their earnings???

They may have a smaller version that's cheaper now, I remember when it came out I saw it at Brady Distributing, and it had a huge monitor and the price tag was like 16K.

On the Terminator Salvation there are three versions: A Standard 32" for about $6200-$6600; Deluxe 42" for about $7500-$9300 depending upon where you get it and the Super Deluxe 100" for about $18k.

On Friction, one reason why the enemies can blow up in chunks is that originally they were just supposed to be robots (if you switch off gore then they spark and have circuits inside). When they nabbed a distributor they requested gore to be put into the game so it was added along with different internal textures.

It would make a LOT more sense if it WERE robots, because I don't care WHAT kind of gun you are using, bodies don't fly apart like that. I guess your explaination makes more sense, because I thought it just looked really strange...
